I don't really have the smell issues only when it comes to the Armour I take for my thyroid. The smell of that pill is really terrible---so some drugs do have a smell to them. But I can take the smell since it did save my life. Another thing--- I never get it mixed up with the others I take !

Yes once in a great while I have a strange smell all day. Nobody else can smell it though.

Hi CM, I know exactly what you mean. The strange smell I got was the smell of damp wood or rotting wood and a kind of musky tinge to it. No other family members could smell it. It made food taste a little different.. like you, mine would last for a few hours to all day & sometimes into the following day.....

In my case I reckon it was down to some of the meds that I was taking at the time. I was taking so many different meds it was no wonder things went wrong because it was around the time I started with what eventually turned out to be Phsychosis... I was hallucinating and hearing strange things and hardly sleeping. I'm not saying that these smells are prelude to bigger problems, but if these smelling probs become more & more frequent I would get your meds checked-out.... the two meds they said caused my probs were Bromocriptine & Propranolol...

I resonate with your sensory pickle. My smeller can get pretty bolixed up. Some smells are just phantoms, and not always bad. Others are peculiar sensitivities -- one of the most noxious of those being the ubiquitous stinkbug. Their strong, yukky aroma hammers my olfactory system before others in the room are even aware. And finally, there are the delights... flowers mostly. Those sometimes have and intensity that can really move me when others find them merely "nice," like Carolina spicebush, sweetshrub, and fragrant viburnam. What is strange is I do not consider myself as having a strong sense of smell overall. Lots of aromas hardly register.

Aloha All - I have definitely experienced what you describe. The smell lasts for several hours and has gone into the next day on occasion. I have trouble figuring out what it sells like, sometimes it seems almost like a chemical smell with a sour twinge to it. I would say I get this once a month or every 6 weeks.

I remember that many pwps lose their sense of smell as a very early symptom. My sense of smell is very strong but I do get these
phantom smells at times. The medications I'm on don't seem to have a scent to them.

Yes CM i have experienced the sane think , but my comes and goes . For few seconds I smell it and then I don't . Usually I also ged a bad taste in my mouth. It comes and goes for few min . and then goes away. Did not pay up to much attention until u machined . But if it lasted longer and it came up more frequently , like Dirky say , I would go owed my meds. with my Dr , just to prevent future problems . Zlatica

hey CM, i seem to smell things my family doesn't (i think they think i'm a little crazy every time i say it) but then they all smell one of the dogs passing gas and i don't smell a thing... go figure...
