Parkinson's disease is a movement disorder often characterized by muscle rigidity, tremor, a slowing of physical movement, and in extreme cases, a loss of physical movement. About 8 months after being diagnosed the Motion Disorder Specialist started him on 1 1/2 (100/25 mg of Carbidopa and levodopa) like you are taking.
1 1/2 pills 4 times a day. Now he take 2 x 4 times a day.
Did they tell you not to take it will meals especially not with protein as it works against the medication.
He has always been fatigued since the very beginning and would give anything to feel normal. He complains about his back when trying to do things. He stoops over which doesn't help his back but didn't do any exercising to help his posture.
Anyway, now he sleeps in his chair a lot, and I don't know if it's the progression of the disease or those pills that causes this sleepiness, so watch your progression to see if you are getting sleepy.
It is good that you are exercising, and he also has an incumbent bike . The MDS said that it won't really help the PD but good to do something to keep active.
My husband also walks a few times per week in the nice weather.
He uses the bike more in the winter.
Good luck with things.......... this is a good website for any questions you might have.
I hope you are seeing a MDS or if not a neurologist who know about PD. We see the doctor every 6 months.
The fatigue started before being put on meds. I take my meds with meals/protein specifically to slow absorption of the meds as directed by my MDS who I see every 3 months. Thanks for your feedback.
