numbness

In the past year I have noticed some numbness of both of my outer ankles and 1 or 2 toes om each foot. The md specialist seems to not know if it is from PD. Anyone else have this symptom?

It sounds more like a symptom of poor circulation or diabetes. It is important to watch your feet for damage as poor circulation can lead to wounds that don't heal well. be safe. Alex

I had a diabetes blood test. No indication that I have diabetes. Only thing that has changed in the last year is being put on Sinemet.

Vascular Insufficiency could be the cause of it. It slip up on you gradually, so you don't notice it at first.

I had surgery for this last December, it has made a world of difference and no more sores on my legs. The numbness is gone; however, I do have injuries in my lower back that sometimes cause pain or numbness in different areas. May be worth a consult with a cardiologist.

If I am understanding some of what I have been reading on PD, it may be just part of the PD, but if it were me I would want to make sure my circulation is OK before I add it to the PD storybook.

My husband has had this for several years before being diagnosed with PD. He has had nerve tests to confirm that he has neuropathy, but they could never pinpoint a cause. He doesn't have diabetes, nor does he have vascular insufficiency. He hasn't been exposed to chemical toxins and they did an MRI of his back looking for pinched nerves, but no, his nerves are fine. Now that we know he has PD, we are assuming it was just another early symptom, like the way he lost his sense of smell years ago, long before he began to have tremors.

That said, I agree with other's advice - rule out the other possibilities first before deciding it is related to PD.
