Yes, it is very tiring isn't it. Frustrating! I am starting to notice it myself too. It sucks, but what can we do? Maybe the univers's way to tell us to slow down?.....Enjoy your boat tomorrow and have fun fishing.

Hi Alex,welcome to real PD world. I fond very early in to my illness , that iI cannot do things the way I use to . I was a nurse in CCU and use to multitasking . I id the same at home. I clean my house ,did the laundry and cook fabulous dinner. I was busy all the time. Now I learn to pace my self . One room at the time It takes me whole week to do ,what I use to do in one day. It is enough to drive gal bunkers, but if I wanted it done that is the way , I have to do it, I dont know if it is Gods way or the universe way to slow us down. We have no choice but be slow. So join me Alex and slow down , pace your self , one ting at the time and be glad you can still do it. Hang in there Alex , I am with you and I uderstand what u going through . I think that is one of the hard lessons to learn when you have PD,you just don't have the energy you use to. I know that once I accepted that it made my life much easier. And something else I learned is when I do have the energy, I spend a good part of that time doing something I enjoy not just what needs to be done. Take the pressure off yourself. It feels good!

I have no energy except what i get form the pills-lamictal which is nominal at best, but i am going to increase my caffeine intake (very sensitive to caffiene) and start hammering on the body with activity. My wife is looking like she will be working in the Alaskan Bush at a Native village teaching and i have a job up there this summer as chef at wilderness lodge. I figure if were lucky we will spend the next 2 years in the Arctic with no running water and moose meat and salmon and berries for a diet maybe some caribou....and speak Yupik.......... and whale and polar bear hunting.....smoked arctic char
We will travel by dogsled in the winter we are told between villages. And I found a float plane service that will delive rmy meds. You folks from Canada are likely more familiar with the subject.

If you gotta go down the PD trail you might as well push yourself to the absolute limit and beyond until there is nothing left but a well used vehicle called a body....."it was a dependable ole body".....

I think I will usher in PD stage 3 with a seriuos a@# kicking adventure eh? I wonder how bad i will shake at -50 dergrees F.?
I will have to practice shooting with my left hand because my right hand looks like a claw. That should be interesting. maybe the natives will call me "man with claw" that sounds pretty tough........

I think the lack of energy is one of the most frustrating things about PD. I no longer make a "to do" list or plans with friends and family. I have to take a "wait and see" approach, and this really angers me because it is another reminder of how my disease controls my life. I have learned to pace myself and to listen to what my body is telling me. I have finally given myself permission to lower my "acceptable" standard when it comes to how things look and what I can get done.

speaking of energy. i usually do some strength training with 7 lb . this morning, i could not do the usual with my left arm. on the e6th lift in the first set. i actually had no strength at all to lift it. i noticed yesterday for the first time my whole arm was shaking , usually it is just my hand, now today i have noticed my whole left arm is very weak and feels like it weighs 20 more than my other arm. sound familiar to anyone??? this is so scary. i've been taking carbo dopa /leva now for a year.

Ela, i have been on sinemet also for 1yr sam eexact thing with right arm. I use it till it fails every day and lift weight until it fails. Use it till it drops off then it wont bother u i say. My approach is to double my activity the worse i feel. I m going down with a fight. i really feel like crap too but who cares? so does everyone else....

My husband says that he feels the same way about energy and it is his biggest challenge beside lack of strength. . He has plans in his head but doesn't have the energy to do things. Sometimes he surprises me though and when I go away for several hours, he is outside doing things. I'll be glad when the weather warms up again, as that makes a big difference.
He also said that he doesn't notice any difference in the way he feels after taking his Sinemet, 2 x 4 (100/25 mg). You hear about other people mentioning about it 'kicking in'. Maybe that is why he often forgets to take his med at times. We are going to ask the specialist why he doesn't feel anything, but they did asked him one time if he feels any difference and when he said "No", nothing more was done. I know they don't like to give too much medication.
How many of you actually feel the meds kicking in? Does it mean that he needs an increase or is this a common thing, not to feel a difference? They must be working to a certain extend, however, how do you know unless you were off them completely?

Hi. it takes me 1 hr in the morning ish and when the sinemet "kicks in" i fell happier, less tight, not as shaky....ahhhhhhhhhhh....like that and then all day every 3hrs, if i eat too much it does not work and i hurt more in my muscles and joints. As for energy levels, i never noticed that sinemet helped me at all. I drag myself outsidde and do it anyway. it just takes 10 x's as long. And i take lomotigrine which really wakes me up for the first 8 hrs of the day wooohooooo "git er done" time, after that I go back to dragging myself around, exhausted but still cooking, cleaning,fixing fence, whatever. If i miss a dose of Sinemet my arm and whole right side lets me know within 20-30 minutes, i usually dont miss doses to easily as my body has built in pain and shake clock.

Just an added bit of interest.....if your husband notices no difference being on or off sinemet i would begin to doubt PD and I wouldnt take it personally thereby avoiding all the serious side effects. Dr.'s like to give pills, if Carb-Levo doesnt do anything why do they think he has PD? Just opinions, less substance, i apologize for that.

Hey Alex... I noticed since he took me off mirapex my tremors come back more frequently... he upped the sinemet for that reason and it helps with the tremors (not as good as mirapex did for me) but my energy level has dropped big time... i have been taking naps and lately i plan my day and do half of what was on my list... i chalk that up to the increase of sinemet.... what do you think??? hugs.. paula

Lynnie200, On time and off time is not a subtle change. If I miss a dose my left side tremor becomes obvious. Once I take the dose it takes a 1/2 more or less to kick in. If he feels no difference and has no change in symptoms talk to the neuro. It might help to keep a journal of meds timing symptoms food attitude mood changes. Good luck and good heath Alex
