Parkinson's Disease Support Group
Parkinson's disease is a movement disorder often characterized by muscle rigidity, tremor, a slowing of physical movement, and in extreme cases, a loss of physical movement. The primary symptoms of Parkinsons are due to excessive muscle contraction, normally caused by the insufficient formation and action of dopamine, which is produced in the dopaminergic neurons of the...

I'm having slight problems with my blood pressure now, but my Dr's nurse has tried to get me to take meds for that and I'm not too pleased about it as the possible side effects are pretty dreadful... so I'm going to shed some weight and hopefully bring my blood pressure down without taking the darn meds... My Mother has had high blood pressure for a long time and she's had some terrible experiences with meds and don't want to risk going through the same stuff, even though the med the nurse is hoping to get me on is a low dose of 5mg 1 daily.
I too miss the chat facility on here, it brought us a little closer...
I wish you a great Christmas and a prosperous new year 2014...
Big hugs ~ Dirky ?;O))xx
I have to get back on here more often. I always feel better after reading post from the others members. Merry Christmas....Brian
This was after waiting for a bus that was 12 minutes late on a route where the buses are supposed to come every 15 minutes. We always make sure that we take one bus earlier just so we can make the connection. We did make the connection, but it was a very close call. If there had not been people at the bus stop, we would have missed the bus and then been late for the dr.'s appt.
It is bad enough that we have to walk long distances from the bus stop to the dr.'s office. Ed is having more trouble walking, and I have a knee that likes to give out from time to time. I take my cane when I go off the apartment property just for safety as I don't want to fall.
Then I found out that my daughter that lives in NV was in town for her daughter's graduation from college, but she did not call me or come to see me. After driving for several hours to get here, you would think that 30 minutes on another day would not have been too much.
The holidays are here and Ed and I will spend them alone. We have no family that will come to visit us. Unless someone from the church invites us for dinner we will have a very meager dinner or we may decide to brave the weather and take the bus to our favorite Chinese restaurant, but they only have menu on holidays, no buffet.
I hope all of you will have a very Merry Christmas. I already got my presents for this year. I got a bicycle that I have been wanting for a long time and I got a new phone in case the computer dies again, we can still pay our bills via the internet.
I bid you greetings from down under Australia.
Yes I am missing friends on this site too. It seems to have become this way ever since chat line was stopped.
What a pity, I feel we had a very special community going, with lots of healthy community spirit.
I have not been able to visit this site of late due to my PC having issues? One would think my PC had developed Parkinson's, LOL.
Anyway it s all fixed as of today, so I am up and running again, eager to catch up with my friends on this site, your most very good self included.
Go well Carol,
Have fun, enjoy the day and,
love and be loved.
MAINTAIN A WINNING POSITION.

Plus we all seem to be attacking our days with being so busy but that will change in January which is a cold and dreary month. I am grateful that we can all still move and be busy.
Thank you for being such a funny, intelligent and insightful support group. Sometimes I feel we know more than the Neuros. The wealth of knowledge on this site is incredible!
I love and miss you all and wish you a Merry Christmas and a cure for the new year. Feel well or buy a punching bag. I got one and named it Park N. Sons and some days I beat the hell out of it!
Let's all stay in touch!

You are so sweet to be thinking of others, especially with every thing you've been going through these last couple of months.
I check here often and find what people post so informative and clever. I have learnt a lot about PD and the journey we are taking.
I feel, no I know that the one thing that PD stripped from me is my confidence. I've lost the confidence to particate in life outside my home.
Yet, they say you have to hit the bottom before you can get better.
So I organised to see a movement specialist and accepted some realities. Now I am armed with more knowledge to face each day, mainly due to what I learn here.
I am truly in awe of the diversity and support that comes out of the group and have deep respect and admiration for all of you.
I hope you all have a great Christmas wherever you may be.
Cheers from Sydney Australia

I have been going crazy with work. I tires me out so much I just go home and flop.
I will try to be on more often. This is a great group of people who I am glad to have found.

I heard from Paula and she said to let you all know she is doing well. She got a new computer and it won't let her log in here so she may have to create a new account. But she said she will be back soon! (Yay!!).
Is anyone else crashing after the Christmas hustle and bustle? I have done nothing for 2 days. sigh!! Where are you Julie - I need a good kick in the butt!!!! lol
