I started off just taking Mirapex and it helped a great deal. Just watch out for the side effects. They didn't want to go on Sinamet until I had to being I'm young and once I start on it I'll be on it for life. I do take one Azilect pill a day and it also seems to help and it might slow it down. Good luck and trust your doctor to know what is best for you.

My new neuro seems to be much more transparent and informed than the last guy. He told me that Azilect is still in the trial stages and that the report on it's effectiveness and long term study, isn't going to be out for about a year. He also said that it was the most promising drug out there now, and that if he were to put me on only one med, Azilect would be it. BTW - it is supposed to slow/stall the progression of PD. It does not help with current tremors.

PT II. Azilect is a tier IV drug under most insurance plans, without insurance it runs about $400 a month.

I'm taking azilect too, but it doesn't help with tremors. It does help with rigidity and posture. I'm taking all kinds of supplements and
acupuncture trying to stall taking dopamine drugs. I tried the dopamine agonist class (neupro) but the side effects were too much for me to deal with.

Hi Peachy, I started on Half Hinderal and from there to Sinemet CR and Madopar Disp and now Half Sinemet CR too.I've been on them qiute a while now. I had a real bad time of it 5 yrs ago, I was taking Bromocriptine+Propranolol for a time and eventually had a Psychotic episode as my PD Doc refers to it now. As a result of that I now take Clozapine aswell as the Sinemets. As you say we are all different. The last time I saw PD Doc he's now put me on the Rotigotine patch. I have been on Sinenet 25/100 from the very begining
adding Sinemet cr 50/200 and mirapex 1mg and now Azilect seem to be my therapy.
