Parkinson's disease is a movement disorder often characterized by muscle rigidity, tremor, a slowing of physical movement, and in extreme cases, a loss of physical movement. The primary symptoms of Parkinsons are due to excessive muscle contraction, normally caused by the insufficient formation and action of dopamine, which is produced in the dopaminergic neurons of the...
i get knee ,leg and feet pain every day. It comes and goes. for me it happens when my meds are wearing off and my muscles are "stiffening up". when the muscles tighten my feet and legs curl in and a few minutes of that and i get pain--it happens without me even paying attention. Other people don't notice, they just think i sit kind of odd. Pay attention to where your feet bend next time you get the pain, and you might notice that your feet are moving in toward your body (tightening). while i sit at my desk my feet tend to slide under my ass.
good luck
I have problems with stiffness etc... and cramping in my toes, very painful.....
I know a few people who have had knee replacements and all are well, but they don't have PD, but I think it's best keeping to a healthy weight to avoid wear & tear on the joints... if you have a weak spot PD will eventually hinder & aggrivate it, as it has with my lower back. I do various stretching exercises to help keep me supple'ish.... my spine is a stiff as a crowbar...lol... Looking after your posture is important too.
My Neuro told me 4 or 5 years back that you'll never fully control the tremours... meds go a long way in helping very well especially in the early years in my case, but now I find that when I'm fully medicated... the tremours can be triggered by sudden shocks, sudden unplanned changes or being startled in some way.
Yours Sincerely Dirky !!;O))xx
Here's something to compare with.... Meds usually help my tremor. Your entire scenario of leg pain and stiffness describes mine as well. Mineis not immediately improved by my meds, however a 1-2 week hiatus from meds will dramatically increase my pain and stiffness.
With or without meds, I am one tired chicky most of the time. Gotta go now. Need a nap. (tee hee hee).
Hugs,
Christine
