There is quite a bit of suspicion regarding bacteria in the gut being at least partly if not wholly responsible for Parkinson's. No proof yet as with pretty much any other possibilities.
They are doing a clinical study on Rifampin to cure MSA, but the exclusion criteria are the usual strict requirements and they only end up with 30 or 40 subjects because of that.
It's believed that Rifampin or it's derivatives actually reverse the protein folding process with Alpha-Synuclein. so the MSA trial is taking only people with the most severe form of Prakinson's and limited life span for study. I read of this a couple of years ago and out of probably 10 Doctors that I asked to prescribe it off label, not a one of them would do it.
I would certainly ask your Dr. if it's an option being that it's an powerful antibacterial.

Thank you for your comments. I will shortly (this week) have a breath test , as it is free, and will let you know the results. I intend taking the antibiotics, and then maybe in a month or two do a follow up breath test to see what happens (if I have the bug)

I think out of curiosity, someone else , or two or three should have the test also, any takers???

Hi peache, I had acid reflux problem for years. Have been taking Prevacid for it. . The patent expired and you can by it owed the counter and my insurance refuse to cover it. So now I am on a Dexilant. The interesting think is my head open up again and I was put back on antibiotics and my PD symptoms are better. Am able to decrease Sinemet. Feel almost normal , sometimes i forget to take my meds.I red on the site you provide that it does not improve symptoms but the other article says it does. Well I had 3 weeks of additional antibiotics and i feel better. Next time I go to my neurologist I will asks her what she thinks.

Im going to take the antiobotics for this anyway, as an experiment, even if my neuro laughs at me . If it works, well WOW, if it doesn't, no harm done.I have been reading it is very hard to get rid of this bug with antibiotics, due to the nature of antibiotics becoming not that effective these days, as viruses and bugs etc, are becoming antibiotic resistant.

As my partner is currently taking these meds, for the bug (as he has it) He is due to come off them in 2 days. I will take him for a breath test to see if he has got rid of it. Then in 3 months I will take him again to see if it is gone for good. If not, well I will try the natural method being deprive this bug of sugar etc, introduce apple cider vinegar and lemon juice into his diet, to alkalyine his system.

Me next, if it works on him (the healthy one) it will work on me, if I have this.

I never put my full faith into a Doctor/Neuoro. Still think they dint give a shit.

My full faith is in myself, as I am the one who wants to see me cured before anyone else.

A decade ago, my better half had beginnings of a nasty ulcer. Tested and treated for HP, the problem went away and has not returned. Nice not to worry about that one. OTOH, I have GERD, reflux, hiatal hernia... but no HP. And I am the one with PD. I am persuaded the origin is some evil being sticking pins in random dolls.

3 years ago I was suffering from excess gas and bloating. My doc put me on a Urease breath test for Helicobacter Pylori and it turn out positive. My whole family had to be tested. Only my 17 year old daughter was tested positive. Her readings was much higher than mine and had no symptoms at all. We were both treated with double antibiotics and nexium.
6 months later I took another breath test, still positive. Get treated with antibiotics again. Took a 3rd test, another 6 months later but before I went for the test, I drank Paw Paw leaf juice every morning for 14 days. Paw paw or papaya leaf is a natural de-wormer. My test was finally negative.

Yes I apparently had the bug for most of my life and it started showing up when I was about 9 and nothing was done about it at all. I continued to have symptoms and lived with them. Finally when I was about.... 22 years old I had enough and told the drs about it and all they did was prescribe me with the purple pill aka Nexium? If that's spelled right....
They tested me for nothing.... I found out most drs back then refused to run tests because it would cost the Pharmacies companies millions due to the fact that H Pylori is the number one cause of many problems. It is the only ONLY cause of Ulcers. And leads to other complications. The classic complications are bloating, nausea, bathroom troubles, acid reflux, feeling of fullness, etc. It can lead to stomach, pancreas, colon, esophageal cancers. SCARY. You can only imagine how freaked out I have been.
I was finally diagnosed/tested in 2010 after losing a massive amount of weight and had extreme pain to the point where I could not release my knees from my chest. I was in fetal position and Im a strong mom of four boys. The pain was horrendous. The dr was very nice and very smart she knew right away what was wrong, sent me for an endoscope and biopsy and it came back positive for H Pylori. I was put on prev pac twice before I was finally negative or so they say. I caught it back again and I am totally freaked. It has been left for a long long time because the new dr refuses to do anything about it, She must be one of those who are either clueless or trying to protect the pharmaceutical companies. ,,, a scary thought.... She said we had to live with it and stress brings it on.... FALSE! Completely incorrect.
I am waiting for my appointment with a new dr tomorrow morning. IT has all been such a scary experience.
A week ago I started experiencing heart palpitations and flutters as well as poor circulation/numbness/tingling in the hands and feet. Also pin feelings too, tremors, electromagnetic sensations inside my body, joint pains/muscle pains and weakness. I also have had a swallowing problem for 15 years. I read that H Pylori has been linked to many autoimmune diseases which my mother has and she also has very bad ulcers, has pancreas problems and has had her gallbladder taken out. She also has fibromyalgia. I told her I think she has H Pylori she has never been tested can you believe that? I am awaiting her results. I was cleared of this bug in January 2011 until a few months ago when she came to visit me and she was sick and did a lot of throwing up I had to clean it up, I have no idea if she used my tooth brush/mountwash and would not be surprised. I honestly think I caught it back from her. My mother has had these symptoms for 20+ years and they continue to cause more problems for her, she is now disabled with multiple autoimmune diseases.
I had all the symptoms of MS- scary thought.
I honestly believe the research and the article is right, H Pylori is connected with all the other health issues that pop up during or after infections. I am just praying I am not too late and the damage is reversible. I have to try a new antibiotic therapy pack now because the prev pac has failed me and many others. There are two new ones out one is called LOAD and the other is quadruple therapy combined with Bismuth. I hope I can get started on those tomorrow!
