Parkinson's disease is a movement disorder often characterized by muscle rigidity, tremor, a slowing of physical movement, and in extreme cases, a loss of physical movement. The primary symptoms of Parkinsons are due to excessive muscle contraction, normally caused by the insufficient formation and action of dopamine, which is produced in the dopaminergic neurons of the...
Regardless of what this condition is called, for me it is yet another symptom of Parkinson's Condition alas, impostor that it is.
I practise my handwriting on a daily basis nowadays, at the very least it is slowing the deterioration to the point where I can say there has been good improvement.
Taking encouragement from this, may I urge your goodself not to let your handwriting go, keep at it, least it be lost beyond the point of no return.
.
As the tremours effect both my hands now, this doesn't obviously help and my writng resembles shorthand scribble.. or a Chinese Menu... I don't think I have full-on Microgrphia... I would say that it's as unpredictable as the tremours, it comes & goes. If I only write for a little time I'm fine.
I wish you well....

Although presently I am lucky enough to be employed, and no-one knows I have PD, they just think I have bad writing, etc.
Are you the Rajesh I talked to a while ago, about fenugreek?
I don't know if this helps, my apologies if you have heard of this before. I had an appointment with my osteopath on Tuesday and I talked to her about this problem related to me.
She has this really neat exercise where you get a decent size elastic band and place it around your fingertips. Open and close your hand just enough ( everyone will be different ) and what you get is a controlled finger stretch. I have hand grips and she explained they are great but this stretch will work different muscles.
Hoping this helps someone as it has helped me.
Cheers to all
Darlene
Thank you for your exercise tip and using the software to "transcribe" the notes. I shall attempt and will report my findings.
It is really great to receive so many helpful tips from all DS members.
Best Wishes
Yes, that was me that you mention about fenugreek seeds.
Thanks!
Thank you for your helpful suggestion.I needed to ask you that do I wrap the elastic band on all five fingers or is it looping through each finger and thumb and then I open/shut my fist?
Thanks
Rajesh
Sorry for not being clearer .
Bring your fingers together (like a claw)and put the elastic band around your finger tips, then just open and shut. Different bands will provide different resistance. Some I had at home were too small while some gave no resistance.
Hope it helps you. I have been practicing while at work.
Good luck
