sorry it seems as tho you can only view this in Australia , it said that a reason for pd might be the inability to clear iron from our Brains , and with an iron build up those kills cells in our brains . This has been discovered in brave pd people who left their brains for dissection after they died .

Drug trial to commence with some test patients in Sydney nsw Australia next month will possibility drug will be on offer in a couple of years . Maybe google doctor rachael codd , she is doing the tests

Thanks Peachy, i hope for more research into the iron buildup! If they can't reverse p.d (stemcells please) at least their is hope that the progression can be halted and symptoms managed, that will be a big help.

Well I have decided , that my next neuro visit in June, i will ask him why i have never had a brain scan , not sure if that would have told a story at all.
I was told l had PD through a set of symptoms , that I guess we all have.
But now I do wonder if a brain scan would show Iron deposits, that would interest me.

I will ask , and hopefully I it will be offered free.

Yes, I had a brain scan. My first neuro did not do one, but the second one did. He did it to rule out any tumers or strokes.

I had a brain MRI, it ruled out MS and tumours and showed my cerebellum with deadtissue areas replaced with cerebro-spinal fluid, explaining my poor balance. I don't know if a standard scan will show iron deposits.

Well, this is certainly a revelation! My family used Iron cookware, thinking it was efficient, healthy, and preferable, and I use it daily. Who could possibly imagine the Iron skillet that cooks my cornbread and scrambles my eggs may be responsible for my progressive, degenerative and debilitating disease?? This is just stunning!! I had lunch yesterday with a pd researcher whose husband is a neuro researcher, it seems as though this is the direction they are moving towards, iron deposits in the brain, a few trials to start here in Australia within the next 3 years. I was told this is very promising and might be all linked MS , Alzheimer's and pd somehow all tomdomwith how iron affects us. Gosh I hope they are on the right track
