But what really upsets me is when people say, Well, you don't look like your sick. Family, friends and co-workers are the biggest culprits. The medicine helps hide the symptoms. I tell them even though you don't see the shaking - I still shake on the inside, I still loose my balance. They don't understand the effort that it takes to look like I am not sick. I am very grateful though that my husband understands. He is with me the most and knows what I go through. My husband knows when I say I am sick - that means I am sick and I have to really take it easy. Yet, he still doesn't understand when he drops something and leaves it where it is not suppose to be that when I either move it or ask him to move it it is not because I am complaining it is because I trip over things out of place and might lose my balance and fall. I'm just again "taking care of myself." Oh well, at least I have a disease that gives me choices and gives me time. When I first learned that what was wrong with me was PD I was very upset but after reading up on the many Parkinsonism disease I am glad I just have regular old PD - many of the like diseases give an exact # of years to live and the drugs do not help. And then I say - who cares if no one understands - it is not my job to make them understand. My job is to understand that they do not understand. LOL Have a good day.

I know I put up with so much pain and stiffness simply because I am so very afraid of meds----any meds----I have just had so many bad experiences that now I have a phobia about them.
My husband understands too and always tells me watch for this or stop looking around and watch where you are going. That balance is terrible and when I first stand up I feel like my legs are wooden.
Trying new things is the key to kicking PD. One day the solution will be found.
Don't be afraid of meds be afraid when they stop offering new meds!
I would never be scared if they stopped offering drugs because many of the new ones drs have shoved at me for other reasons don't help anyway. The older drugs work the best for me. I find doing research in depth the best whenever a doctor comes waiving any prescription at me.
gonnafly----I misunderstood your topic. I thought with all the problems you were having that you originally said you were not on any meds. Sounds like you are struggling quite a bit and maybe they are not working for you.
deb----I know what you mean, we all need a place to "vent" with people that understand. So glad you are doing better.
I use two hands to brush my teeth and shave. I refuse to stop using my right hand even though it does not always do much. . I visit many customers during the week to look at jobs. On bad days I cant even read my own writing, so I take a lot of pictures. what ever it takes!!
