has anyone had dyskinesia along with the pd? I am having feet and toe movements. Also my mouth moves front to back and side to side. My tongue is moving too. I looked up the symptoms online and it gives me dyskinesia as a diagnosis. I went to see my neurolgist 2 weeks ago and he told me it has nothing to do with my pd. I was on the med rispadole for about 2 years,The internet said the dtskenisea could be caused by this med. I went off it in Oct. He said I might still have the affects of the med in me. I can't believe it would take 4 months to get out of my system. I am going to him the end of the week because my symptoms are getting worse. I hope some of you can help me out

What meds are you on? I space my doses out and take herbs with meds about 12 years with pd and about 2 1/2 on Sinemet. If you are in the states I could phone you....the explanation is long.

DYSKINESIA IS CAUSED BY THE PROLONGED USE OF DOPERMINE REPLACEMENTS, THIS OCCURS USUALLY AFTER SEVEN YEARS, PLUS OR MINUS.

IN A SEMINAR ON THIS VERY SUBJECT, MY PARKINSON'S NURSE SPECIALIST, REPORTED THAT, BEFORE THE INTRODUCTION OF DOPERMINE REPLACEMENTS, IN THE LATE SIXTIES TO EARLY SEVENTIES, THERE WAS NO DYSKINESIA.

DYSKINESIA LIKE SYMPTOMS CAN ALSO BE CAUSED BY BEING OVER MEDICATED.

SO ACCORDINGLY, IT APPEARS THAT IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN TAKING DOPERMNE REPLACEMENTS, THEN DYSKINESIA IS UNLIKELY.

THANKFULLY, NOT EVERYONE WILL DEVELOP DYSKINESIA.

My mother, who has PD and has been taking carbidopa/levodopa (Sinemet) since her 2007 diagnosis, has had dyskinesia for about two years, primarily with respect to her back. It's gotten to the point when, last year, she required medication. She's been taking Symmetrel (brand name: Amantadine), which doesn't work well for many who have PD but has helped her quite a bit. The tablet form didn't work well for my mother, but the syrup does. She's taking 30 ml per day -- 10 ml three times per day.

My husband has only recently been diagnosed with PD and his feet and legs shake, and his jaw moves from side to side. He had these symptoms before taking any medications. Everyone has different reactions to medications. His neurologist hasn't said anything about his leg, feet, and jaw tremors. I know my husbands tremors are not caused by medications.
