I am seeking input from anyone who has gone through with the
operation.How successful was it.How long was the recovery period.How are you managing now.How was the decision to go ahead with the op made.Were there any set backs,if so how were they overcome?What age group were you in.
I see my neurologist in a couple of weeks,he indicated the last time I saw him,if dyskinesia was still presenting at the level of intensity he would refer me to the surgeon and the decision would be made by him.He suggested it would best to go for it soon while I'm still fairly healthy and of an age to take the advantage.I welcome any input.

Look back through the archives of this discussion board! You are going to get mixed answers to this question! From "are you nuts" to "It's the greatest thing I ever did!" I'm only going to say 2 things as the rest of my answers are posted back in other questions! #1 The new thinking is : Do ths as early interviention while you are healthy and have not gotten the irreversable long term side effects of Sinamet!#2 There are only a few(6) places that have the knowledge , experience, cleanliness and staff to properly do this surgery most everytime ! Most places are hit or miss whether they get it right or not , whether you get programmed right or if you get outta there with out getting staph infection! The reason for this is "The neurosurgeon that finished last in his class , they still call him a neurosergeon! Do your research , choose carefully and make an educated choice! Look back through the discussion and for sure go to DBSyahoo group! You'll get the answers you want!
