If you are looking for reasons to prolong your health and be a candidate for a CURE.......then we're talking.

To be fair, Zlatica is happy with her DBS AND she takes Sinemet AND she takes Mirapex AND ONE surgery turned into SEVEN surgeries due to those little nasty germs she got in the nasty hospital. Z is a friend of mine. we talk on the phone. I love her. She never got RID of the nasty infections until I sent her a large envelope of HERBS to take. Coincidence? Step right up. You want to calculate the chances of SPEAKING to your surgeon when your skull is infected and he/she is gone on a paradise jaunt?

I am 16 years into this and I've learned a lot. I do not have tremor.

Have you taken amantadine? Have you tried natural remedies along with your meds? I have more Q for you....but I DELAYED using S i n e m e t for years so I could BE present when my son graduated college and in April he graduates law school age 23.

Yes, have you tried amantadine? My dr. gave me some but I started that and another pill for sleeping together and it wiped me out so I stopped taking the amantadine. But I don't know which pill was wiping me out the amantadine or the other one the give - i forget the name for sleeping and anxiety - it isn't a sleeping pill. I found I can only take that either 1 every 2 days or 1/2 a pill at night. I'll probably have to start back on the amantadine. Let me know though if you have tried that. Thanks.

I had the DBS surgery, I don't know that it's for everyone.
I was the 4th person to have it done while I was asleep, using a before MRI and a during MRI over laying the two.
I did get a infection and was on hardcore IV antibiotics for 30 days,
it cleared up and now I am good. The Sinemet wasn't working very well for me. It gave my quality of life back to me.. I love it!

My humble apologies--truly-- I suffer almost around the clock with muscle pain and rigidity but when I am not in awful pain-- it's a life worth living. I think I must be awfully sick and not enough strength to fight the fight. So may God bless your every decision-- all of you

Yes I have DBS , and yes infection set in multiple times and i ended up on antibiotics IV few times and had 9 surgeries , to repair the wires which shoved up on my scalp. Also wash out the infected areas on my head. Considering all the problems , I can say I am happy with my DBS.It helps me move and do the thinks i like basically helps me live the normal way. I can take care of my self and do small tasks at home. My husband take care of the rest. I did not arrived to the decision lightly . It was done after I was at the end stage . I had no other option left. But looking back , it was rite decision for me.

Thank you all for responding. Just to throw a monkey wrench into my symptoms I had a near perfect day with hardly any tremors just a short afternoon nap. I am not complaining or feeling guilty for having a good day. I just have ti wait and see how I feel tomorrow. Meds Sinemet, 25 100 4 x per day, Amantadine and seligilene 2x per day comtan 4x Believe me I am in no rush for brain surgery. I think I will wait and see. Alex

Just 4 S in 24 hours? had been on 14 --and now takes 12. I may take up to Prescription Sinemet. That leaves you a LOT of room by my calculations...let's see.......Max is 14 ish minus 4 makes 10 more wiggle room???? There are a LOT of options..

I've begun to get restless thinking DBS might be for me, too, but my doc says no. I was Dx'd 15 yrs ago & put off taking Sinemet for 10 yrs. The first 3 yrs on the S were like heaven, but it only has a therapeutic shelf life of about 5-8 yrs for most, & I'm now up to 9 25/100 pills a day. Simple tasks are becoming increasingly difficult. But my neuro says I'm still way ahead of most, & that there's more we can do with the meds. I think if I was at the end stage I'd seek another opinion, but for now I'm trusting his judgement. WWW, I think you are awfully brave. Deb, I've been taking one amantadine in the am for yrs, however I no longer work & can nap during the day. I am very unsure about bravery. Without the LDopa I'd be dead now and you intrigue me 15 years into this so I'll bow to you and hope when my med is working to be able to ask you a few Q... congrats for your good outcome and your savvy doc.

looks like my 1st post was altered so makes no sense..my rx is for 8 daily 1 every 3 hours a friend takes 12 but did take 14 plus 2 other meds she takes

I had DBS surgery done a few months back. The tremor in my left side is 100% gone. I was "awake" during the operation. My movement disorder specialist took me off Amantidine as my wrist and ankle were getting swollen
