I thought I remembered seeing this subject in a prior post, but I was not affected by this symptom at the time so skimmed over it. (I've tried searching prior posts, but it doesn't pull anything up.)
I have noticed this creepy "crawling" sensation in my legs over the past 2-3 months and wonder if it is PD related. It's almost a inner numbness feeling. Actually quite hard to describe in words, I guess.
If you have experienced such a feeling, was it the beginning of worsening symptoms or has it remained a symptom to itself?
You know how it is.....you don't want to blame every new change in your body on PD, but you want to stay on top of your PD at the same time.

My neuro put me on gabapentin. This is mainly used as a seizure medication, but was found to control similar sensations in patients with diabetes who had peripheral neuropathy. It has worked fairly well for me.
I tried to explain that to my PD nurse, I wanted to know what was just me and what PD related, in frustration I told her that I didn't know where I ended and PD began anymore - she laughed and said that is because you are one of the same. I am still looking at two identities and she said it is all related. I have restless leg syndrome, to me it feels like something is moving below the skin, which then becomes a tingling feeling and causes the muscle to contract and jerk. I have been given Gabapentin, which helps and told this is a sign of being under medicated. Hope any of this helps.

I haven't felt the electric sensation, but maybe that develops down the road??? It feels like my legs stop just short of going from the numbness like feeling to losing the feeling & giving out on me (though don't that it would actually progress to that, but it's the fear of that actually happening that is upsetting).
I appreciate your input! I'm finding I learn more from those diagnosed with PD here than my visits with my neuro. You certainly have helped me develop more of an active role in my conversations with her & given me confidence in my ability to discuss PD much better than when I was dx'd over 2 years ago.
