I do not have a parkinson's diagnoses but i have an extreme amount of twitching and involuntary movements, so my psychiatrist put me on Cogentin. It worked for the first week and a half but now it's not working. Its main use is to treat PD.. i dont understand why it's not helping. I cant get ahold of my doctor until tomorrow but in the mean time i figured i would ask.. has anyone here been on cogentin and had problems with it not working? I keep being told i need to see a neurologist and i know that but its going to take me months to get an appointment. I'm like, ready to bash myself with a frying pan because every time i try to relax, i can't. Too much movement going on..
My friend had tremors and they gave him something that people with Parkinson's take and it was making him very sleepy, so that medication wasn't the answer. I don't know what he takes now, but it is helping.
At least if you can't see a neurologist, get to your family doctor who can refer you to a neurologist .
My psyche gave me the medication because i take 400mg of seroquel to sleep every day and she said it could be side effects of seroquel. Not so sure i agree because for the first 3 or 4 months i was taking immensly high doses of seroquel (above 400mg/day) and did not have any twitching. But i am not a doctor.
All i know is that cogentin has brought me to where i feel comfortable, i can relax, without it i cannot function
