Boy, do I get discouraged when thinking about the future! My husband will do things for me but I feel he resents the time it takes for me to do things and it is more like a duty than a marriage!
It must be very difficult living in a 5th wheel trailer! Are you able to get out to go for short walks? Are there any support groups for PD where you are now? Do you have any relatives, grown children who would be wiling to help you out? If not, Social Services might be able to get someone for a few days a week-but it would not be free. Sound off when you need to- we're here to listen.
I know there are a lot of resources for assistance, companionship and aid, but you have to search so hard for them. Do you have a county or city health services department? Can your doctor recommend a social worker to help find some support? Were either of you in the service? While the VA services vary so much from state to state, we do have a strong one here that has helped with volunteers. They have programs to build ramps, help buy equipment, visitors, food prep, med help...and support groups.
It's a constant adjustment and a disease that can take a toll so quickly on your soul. My Father so wisely reminds me still..you have to focus on the little positives and avoid the negative and just keep moving on. So hard to do some days I know. Good luck!
I have been wrestling with my Lord and Savior over control of these parts of my Life and in the past four days have barely slept. CHRIST WON THE BATTLE! and I yielded my control ------ peace filled my heart and joy filled my soul. My dear husband has stepped up to the bat and he will be my caregiver. I've finally come to the end of myself.
i know that to a lot of you reading the previous paragraph will think I must of lost my senses & will think this is nonsense --- If anyone wants to know the basis of these comments please ask me.... or better still ask God and read his plan for us in the bible.
We are making plans to get a home without wheels ... my eldest daughter as invited us to live with them until we get everything sorted out.
I have never attended a PD support group --- just not ready--- but I will search one out. I've been using a cane but will look at a walker, I won't feel bad when I turn down commitments that have previously drained all my energy .. i will not feel guilty that I can no longer do it all. NO MORE FALSE PRIDE.
