I get incredible stiffness in my wrists not my ankles, I take anti inflammatory tablets - (brufen) It takes the edge off but that's about it. I find heat pads really helpful, but you're probably already doing this. Sorry can't be of much help.

GOOD STUFF
Hey the pillow thing is a really good suggestion. I have the pain in my legs and swollen and stiff ankles. I also have nueropathy in both feet, which can get real bad at times. I always sleep with a pillow under my knees and it really helps a lot. I don't think I would get any rest at all if I didn't use the pillow. And sometimes when my back is bad too, I'll lay down on the floor with a pillow under my knees and make myself relax.
Close you eyes, think good thoughts and just let loose. Probably sounds silly, but it really does help.Give it a try, I think you will be
surprised.
