My Dr. prescribed Amantadine as well and I took it for a month. While it did help relieve some of my symptoms i found it made feel very tight and nervous personality wise. After a month I discontinued and switched to Requip XL which helps and doesn't have the uptightness feeling the Amantadine did. Billy

3.5 yrs my only med --- 10? yrs sick...helped a l o t first 15 mo. Took away all the anxiety-- does worsen ankle swelling I can cook - wash clothes - shower...dress....shop a very little and go to church

I hzve been on amantadine a little less than a yr. The only thing that wrks. have tried them all, my Dr.d told me nothing else he could do but but surgery that only last for 6 months to a yr. no guaratee, hat surgery will acomplish. If you take Amantadine it causes constipation, bad,bad. and the tremors they are rough on the teeth been to dentist three times past January, I surely hope and pray for something. Good Luck. cn3

I was on Amantadine for 8yrs. and then I recently got a new neurologist and he took me off them saying they are no good to you after a year or so. He took me off them and I had horrible withdrawal symptoms. Not very pretty and was out of the loop for a couple of months. Jan

I took amantatine with carda/levo for about 8 months. everything was great. then gradually I developed deep purple rings about an inch or 2 thick. also had red blotches going up both knees my dr. had no idea why that was happening. so I did what we all do. went to WebMD. when I look at side effects it wasn't there. then I read less common, not there. but there it was in rare side effects it was there. purple ankles a nd red blotches. I called him and we quit amantatine. it took about 6 months to clear up. BUT when I was taking it with carba/levo it was great. he then prescribed stupid valium which only makes me fall asleep anytime anywhere.. if the side effects don't show keep taking it b ecause it really helped me for a while. it was great until....
