My husband is having Botox this week for his Blepharo spasms in his eyes. It isn't an unusual symptom but I haven't heard of it until the doctor mentioned it. The doctor was a little suspicious last July but this last the last appointment he confirmed it.
One symptoms of the spasms is uncontrollable blinking which my husband has. Other people might have the symptom where they close their eyes and can't open them, so it could be worse.

The injections are done every 3 to 4 months and it take about 10 days after the injections to get the full benefit. He might be a little puffy so he'll look like a movie star for a few days...lol.

I just hope he can get some releif as it's inteferring with his driving.
I've been doing more of it lately, and it's so frustrating for him when he has this problem. He is a better driver than me and driven all of his life, and used to drive truck for several years after he retired from another job,

I'll just have faith in God that it will help!
Has anyone else had this treatment lately and did it work?

My hubby took botox injections for 2 years. But his injections were in his thighs and feet. I think having it in the eyes would be so hard. I hope that the shots help and he gets some relief. Blessings to you both. xoxopat

It's isn't injected in the eyes, it's above the eyes in the muscles, but it still might be a little painful, but we'll see.

My mother gets shots in the eye for macular degeneration. It's not fun but it is doable. They put drops in the eye to numb the eye - she said it doesn't hurt but of course they eye is open and she says the worst part is having to watch it all.

Getting the injection in the eyes would be more tramatic. As I mentioned before, he is getting it above the eye area, in the muscles of below the eyebrows I believe. I'll let everyone know how it went. Hopefully we get there as there has been a lot of snow in that area, and roads closed, so wish us luck.

A friend of mine has had two rounds of botox injections for her eyes which treatment has proved successful. I guess initially she had some trouble with Medicare approving the procedure because they thought it was for cosmetic reasons but she finally got their approval based on her PD. I had botox injections about a year ago for dystonia in my toes which also was successful. I received about four months of relief for my dystonia but because of the cost of these injections, I have not been able to get reinjected.

I received my first Botox injections back in October for the muscle tightness in my right leg and my neck because of myPD. I had two different reactions to it. It did wonderss for my leg, but my neck was a different story. I could not hold my head up. It was really bad. I was always looking at the ground right in front of me and believe me that made getting around quite difficult. I'm so glad she started me out on a very low dose and she told me that the deaal with my neck is exactly why she does it. There is just no way to know till you try it. My neck is just the last week or so started getting better. So I will be able to continue the Botox for my legs but they will do nerve block injections for my neck. I know those work real well plus get rid of my headaches.
I hope your husband has good luck with his teatment with botox. When it works like it is suppose to, it is wonderful and really helps a lot.

Thanks Joanie, I keep everyone updated. I just hope we can get to the appointment as the weather could be a factor today.

We made it to the appointment on the snow covered roads, but they gave us an earlier appointment so all went well and we got home before dark.
They injected 4 needles around each eye, two above and two below is eye.. He had to close his eyes and remain very still as the needles are injected just above the eye ball into the skin and just below the bottom of the eye. It was difficult but my husband managed to stay still. Thank goodness there were just 8 needles, but since his skin is very thin, he has some bruising in a couple of places. He looks like someone gave him a black eye!
Anyway, it will take about a week or 10 days to really work as he hasn't seen any difference yet, but it's only been one day.
He is to go back again in 3 months for another treatment. They started with a low dosage.

Glad to hear you made your appt. OK and it sounds like things went well. Now it is wait and see how well it works for him. Hope it relly works because,like I said , when it wors it is wonderful. Glad too to hear they started him on low dose. However that sems to be the norm for this treatment and I think we would rather be safe than sorry.

He hasn't noticed too much difference yet, but I think he is driving better. He doesn't seem to blink and drives straighter, so I feel more comfortable. We'll see when we have to travel later, but we'll take turns driving so he doesn't tired out.
