Mine sucked,daughter had meltdown,said she wanted to go inpatient and refused to go to school.Misery loves company,welcome!

I'm sorry to hear you both are having such a bad day. I sure wish there was something perfect to say to ease your struggles but we all know there are no such magic words. Some days just plain suck and we do our best to make it through. I hope that things improve quickly!

Mine was really busy with work, and then I came home and fell asleep on the couch for two hours. And a little later, my daughter, the survivor, came home and helped me make dinner, and we talked about the lovely weekend she had spent with her very nice boyfriend (who lives out of town, and with whom she has a future). Her hair was done and she was wearing makeup and looking just beautiful. This is four years after disclosure, when it felt like my hair was on fire every minute, when I would gladly have leapt to my death. Two and a quarter years after she returned from rehab, still addicted, and back on pain meds after surgery, and my hair was still burning, but at least I had found Al-Anon. One year after I was worried that she'd never finish school and get her life back on track. This sucky Valentine's day will be followed by better ones as your children build a whole new set of memories that will distance them from all the pain of the past.

Congratulations on 20 years together, Warrior! You two are hanging tough, and fighting on, and you deserve to celebrate!

And congratulations for getting through the day in one piece, Hopeful. Did you know that St. Valentine was sentenced to death for performing marriages? No good deed goes unpunished! Tomorrow will probably be tough, too, but please take a moment to yourself. You deserve it. And keep writing! Hugs!

Congratulations on twenty years together and sorry it wasn't as great a day as it should have been.
I spent mine seeing my new specialist therapist ( we have a special rape and sexual abuse centre where I live) so had my first appointment and obviously had to relive everything ! Which was really really hard.

Thanks guys...Hopefully, sorry you felt the grief I did. Luckily, the kid's group went well and hubby and I did get a quick hour dinner date which was relaxing...Apparently I had been wiped out from the day because while I had wanted to attempt romantic gestures after getting the kids to bed (which went really smoothly,) I fell asleep! I don't even remember falling asleep! Lol! I have learned that when I have to play moderator, peace-maker, therapist and restrainer amongst 5 kids (4 PTSD) during a day, that I tend to crash harder than normal. Luckily, it's normally only 1 or 2 kids acting up on any given day.

Naive1.2, awesome news on the prospective son-in-law! I hope my daughter will get there one day!

Eeyore, I know it's hard to rehash the hard stuff but luckily you have someone that can help you through it. It will get harder before it gets easier but one day you will be able to view it as a distant memory that doesn't make you cry/angry/struggle.
