This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !
So...my 6 year old is now out of school now....the school link worker is a total sweetie....because the ed authority is trying to issue me with a a penalty notice...why? because sexual abuse is not yet recognised as a reason why kids get upset, confused, lack cinfidence, become so fearful they can't go to school....wow how far behind are we?

I think you will see a decrease in her anxiety now that school is off the table.One word of advice,try to keep her sleep on a schedule as much as possible,and look into the melatonin,every Doc mental health and other have always been fine with melatonin.and if sexual abuse is not recognized anxiety and depression and especially PTSD go hand in hand with the abuse.You said she can't sleep without you?PTSD symptom.

Okay, I finally stopped hitting my head on the table. Oh, yes, we are still in the Dark Ages when it comes to sexual abuse. What does the penalty notice require of you -- is it a certain one-time cash amount? Are you charged per day? Can the link worker find another reason for your daughter to be excused? Hopeful's comment, above, makes me wonder if PTSD would be an accepted excuse.

Bless the link worker.....she is starting a process of negotiation with the ed authority to get them to recognise my daughter has problems and isn't just playing truant.....I am sure she will have some success.....the problems have been well documented.

I was in court 2x for truancy.The first time I was treated horribly by the school official.Speak out and don't let them give you BS,tell the judge your story,Tell the judge your daughter is showing signs of PTSD,anxiety,and has sleep deprivation which can lead to serious health issues.All true facts Is this a hearing for the days she has missed?

Has anyone ever asked about getting your daughter evaluated by the district child study team? I can't remember if you went into this before somewhere, sorry if I'm adding something already covered. But you can get accommodations or modifications either thru an IEP (individualized education plan) that is given thru state law or a section 504 plan that is given in order to ensure your daughter's civil liberties. You could also be eligible for homebound instruction (not a tutor you have to pay for).

I did a witness impact statement for the court, but actually its got loads worse since the case....it all being brought up after 18 months. Our judges are often so corrupt.....his presentation to my daughter was weird.....all about wearing robes etc. He wouldn't even look at me.....or respond at all when I spoke.....no confidence in them....they failed us
