This final scene of Billy Elliot came to my mind just a few hours after my eldest son stated to disclose the abuses he suffered from his grandfather, my father-in-law. Not that any of my 4 and 2 years old will become classical dancers, of course, but what I found inspiring from this movie (and especially the final scene) is the STRENGTH, the SERENITY, the NOBLENESS and the BEAUTY of the main character (Billy) as an adult.
Billy has suffered along his childhood for many reasons. But he pursues his dream. In the final scene (link below) his father, a simple and strong miner, attends for the first time one of his son's performances (Swan Lake). It s a short scene but you can see the emotion in his father's eyes, expecting for his son to appear on stage. His father has been far from being perfect, he has made plenty of mistakes when trying to raise his son after his wife's premature death, but it is clear along the movie that he absolutely LOVES HIS CHILD and would do anything to protect him. The message is well received by Billy, who also loves his father in spite of the difficult times they face together, especially when Billy decides to become a dancer.
If you can, look at Billy's figure in the final scene: his muscles, his height, his strength meant not for violence, but for beauty and perfection. I just went to my babies' beds right now, to kiss them goodnight - once again! - and saw their tiny, hurt figures, two babies indeed raped by a monster, threatened, lied to, manipulated... BUT I KNOW: they will one day jump as Billy and show to everybody - even to the monster, if he is still alive, and to his wife, the co-abuser - that they are now powerful, and still gentle and sensitive men. That's right he is the one behaving like a monster not your children they are beautiful lives still taking shape and still plenty of time to jump and soar. Their childhood has been returned to you momma even with healing being a necessary part of their lives a part that will bring them strength in the end they still have the other parts to explore nature and dance and music and swimming and sports.

Thanks for this - May your children live a fulfilling, beautiful life- these events do not define them - All the power strength and love of the universe is yours...

Thank you Heart and TodayisGod: this is exactly what I felt yesterday, that their childhood had been returned to me, their mother, that I had recovered back my sweet, chubby babies, so cute. I was so proud and happy to be their mother. With the disclose of the abuses, I felt they had died, and me with them. And in part I was right, a convicted and admitted offender interviewed by Oprah Winfrey in 2010 (he admitted having abused his own daughter), that I found yesterday in Youtube, said: "I killed what she was meant to be, and I killer her spirit". BUT, they are still my lovely babies, they may be changed by tragedy, but they will grow up stronger, wiser, and more beautiful. I will do ANYTHING that takes to arrive to this point. I will be a Mom, and when it is up to them, as adults, to make their own choices, I will stand by them remembering that the easiest - yes, the easiest- way to be happy on Earth is being good to oneself and to others.
