This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !

Dear Parents,
My wife was abused as a child for many years by her older brother. That can not be changed, and no matter what is said or done will NEVER make it easier on her or anybody else who was abused. However, with that being said suvivors bare absolutely no responsibility for what they endured as a child. Don't hold them accountable for exposing the FAMILY SECRET !!!!!
Look inward and know the only way to help is to support your survivor with every fiber in you being. My poor wife has been thrown to the curb by her family, and that does not seem to be changing anytime soon. Survivors fight every imaginable emotion any human being could possible endure. The last thing they need is a family who has abandoned them. Your child for what ever the reason could not come to you for support. More times then not that was because their abuser scared the living daylight out of them.... The only thing that can help the situation today is for you to support the suvivor. We have been to several therapists over the last several years who have told my wife and I that it might be in her best interest to sever ties with her family. I did not wat to believe that, however, I can sure see where they are coming from. The lack of support seems to reek havoc on a survivor and rightly so. It is imperative to be there for your Survivor !!!!!

Momlost36, good for you for standing by your daughter! I am standing by mine also, no matter what. It's amazing that so many people still view these crimes so leniently.
