That's more easily said than done with a master manipulator. These guys prey on people with open hearts, and an open heart will override a "suspicious gut" almost every time. That's why evil is evil -- it focuses its efforts exclusively on destroying what is good, whereas good hopes to make things better. Everyone on this board has learned this in one of the hardest possible ways.

Great contribution, mbadger -- I hope it will help others to realize that they CAN trust their gut, and act to protect their children and themselves.

That is exactly why I wanted to share this, Naïve! In the year I've been on here, I've read so many postings where people just want to really trust the suspected perp in their life. Even know this isn't exactly the same thing, it's just another example of how easily someone can manipulate us. Sad really.

Her description of his winking and smiling at her when she was on the stand, at the point of his identification made me sick.

My children's abuser did the same thing to me. When I pointed at him to identify him, he smiled at me. It took all of my energy to not jump out of my seat and punch him. I was hoping the jury saw what he did.
