You know what I think? I think that some people just don't get it and they never will!!!!
I"m dealing with similar circumstances in that my brothers are standing by my husband (a lovely pedophile) and keep telling me "he didn't do it. He never would. He's not like that".
WHATEVER!!!!!!!!!!
I KNOW how frustrating this can be. Sometimes you just have to cut ties with the family members that don't support you and move on.
That's what I'm doing.

Sick, sick, sick! Try not to have any contact with those who do not support your family. Am struggling with the same issue right now. You are doing the right thing.

I'm so sorry you are having to deal with all this sandheadedness! But you are RIGHT, your mom is WRONG! My mother-in-law reacted the same way with us about a different issue--my one son is immunosuppressed from a kidney transplant when he was an infant, and since she had birds and cats, she had to follow certain precautions and boundaries so my son wouldn't get sick. She decided I was making it up in order to have control over her, even though I had a transplant coordinator explain it to her; she claims I paid them off to say that. So we finally had to refuse to go to her house, she wouldn't come to ours, she started sending all kinds of cards and literature to me about how she and her prayer group were praying for me to be delivered from my sin, blah, blah, blah, so we finally just wouldn't answer the phone when she called (thanks to caller ID) and marked her mail Return to Sender. My husband was completely supportive of me and our son, not of his mother's delusions. Eventually she came around.

I'm glad you vented here--we all need to feel we can go somewhere to release this stuff. Keep that kind of ignorant and obscene negativity out of your life, don't let it derail you from your path of healing. Keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers (((hugs)))

I'm sorry you've had to deal with this. My mother-in-law was the same way. At first she denied it happened, then she said it should be handled within the family. She does not support us with the court process. She is angry that we are doing this to her grandson even though he is the one that did this to her granddaughter. We quit talking to her after 3 attempts over a 2 week period of trying to get her support. Our daughter is more important than her because my daughter is the victim and it is our job to stand beside her. So, she is now out of our lives and it gets easier everyday. Good luck with whatever you choose, but cutting ties with her would send a strong message. Unfortunately, we cannot change these people.

I am glad you came here to vent. I agree with the others-there are just some people who will never get it. Your mother is not on your side as she should be and you have every right to just cut her out of your lives.

There are some boundaries that just should not be crossed and this is one of them. Kudos to you for keeping your child safe. I am glad that your son has a mother like you. Laura
