So as some of you know I'm just over a year post disclosure and I was wondering if anyone else just has these random sleepless nights. I'm just laying here going over everything in my head, what happened, where I was when it happened, what I was doing when it happened, what signs did I miss, how could I let this happen, will he ever pay for what he's done, how will this continue to affect my daughter in the future? Just random nights I can sleep and other nights are full of dread.

Yes, I have the same issue. Sleepless nights. Regrets. Anger. Hurt. I was working when my father-in-law abused our son, and I had to give away the outfit I was wearing that day as I could not see it in my closet without feeling ill. I know it's so hard and it's easier said than done, but just remember you are NOT to blame. Abusers are manipulative, and often work very hard to gain the trust of those they abuse as well as their caregivers. Sending hope for healing...

Five years later, it still happens. Not as often, not with me dissolved in tears anymore, but the shocks reverberate still. Yesterday I had the first fit of rage against the abuser I have experienced in a couple of years. The thought of killing him was so intense and viable-seeming because my daughter has hit a new low. I can't believe he walks free and lives in comfort STILL, and maybe always will.

The good news is that you will work free from whatever is gripping you right now. As we say, you can't go around this -- you have to go through it. So go through it and be done with that part of the journey.

Helpme2017 I was like a crying angry vengeful zombie for at least 6 months. It will get better with time. I didn't believe it when I was where you are now but it has.

Same for me, Brokenmother. Whatever faith you have left should be spent on the idea that it will get better, because it will.
