Parents Whose children have been sexually abused Community Group
This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !

It can be very hard for survivors, so used to blaming themselves and keeping secrets, often wondering when the next shoe will drop, to accept acknowledgement of having gotten through something horrendous. It's easy for us to see our children as courageous and strong because we have perspective on the whole person and their whole situation, and we love them 100% of the time. So remember that she may very well ALSO toss the letter aside. Pick it up, then, and save it for a few years from now, when your daughter has begun to experience independent success. Put it in an envelope again when she is 25-30, and add some new lines about all she has accomplished since because of the strengths she gained when she felt most vulnerable. Someday she will be able to see herself as a young girl again and begin to love that girl more the way you always have.
