Thank you for posting all these great resources. I have a link to a custody "the best interest of the child" social study and it contains everything I want the judge hearing my custody case to educate himself on. How can I get this into evidence? Does anyone know?

For the past three days, my daughter and I have been listening to a general guided imagery and affirmations CD by Belleruth Naparstek, and have found it helpful. In fact, it helped me to completely turn off my fears and grief and to focus on doing what I must do to take care of myself. Yes, the sad thoughts have returned, but this is Day 3 of following this program -- I plan to listen to this daily for the next several weeks, as recommended.

In fact, I just bought three more of BN's CDs for my daughter: Trauma, the PTSD series (which includes dealing with depression, as well as help for sleep), and Easing Pain. All of these CDs, plus the rush delivery charge, cost about the same as a single therapy session. I'll post later about how well my daughter responds to these CDs. BN has CDs for many, many other concerns, too (panic attacks, etc.). She is the guide for most of them (including all of the ones we bought), although some are guided by a male voice -- the description of each makes clear who will be speaking. With regard to the sad emotions coming back after listening, it's not immediate, but hours later. It may be that daring to heal these issues forces them to the forefront, where we can better see and deal with them directly. At the beginning of the CD, she does mention that strong emotions may arise, and perhaps, for me, they will continue to for awhile. The great news is that they REALLY go away after listening.

Finding affordable mental health care has been a horrible injustice in the United States health care system that hopefully the Affordable Care Act (when the glitches are solved!) will correct: everyone will have some coverage for mental health care. That final link mentions churches, synagogues, etc. Sometimes it's awkward for parishioners or congregation members to speak with their own religious leaders. Consider going to a leader of a different faith or denomination, or to a branch of your own faith in the next nearest town. You may want to give a small donation to a place of worship other than your own, if you are comfortable doing so.
