Yes, it is more likely....but maybe not if a child is getting as much care as your daughter is getting. You've believed your daughter, you've talked with her about what is appropriate, and she has multiple ways to express herself appropriately. I think this is something you should talk about with her therapist -- i.e., how do you best discuss this with your daughter, such as what constitutes promiscuity and what is normal teenage affection, what she truly wants to give and what she feels is expected or demanded. I know, she's only 12, but middle school awaits, and then the accelerator really kicks in. It's important for your daughter to know that this is a matter of CHOICE under normal circumstances.

Here are some reasons why children who have been sexually abused may become promiscuous (and to me, promiscuous means becoming sexually involved with others out of a desire to be accepted or a need to punish oneself, without forethought about health or emotional consequences). The first and last ones stands out to me, but the ones in between explain a lot about how bad your daughter may be feeling about herself...making it more important to her to "prove" herself to be "lovable" and attractive to the opposite sex:

Well being a victim myself in teen years I can say there are many reasons here's mine. Discovered that sex or my body attracted attention from men which in a weird way felt powerful like I possesed something powerful. I didn't seek it from older men but peers. I felt if I got the attention I was important didn't matter why... My core beliefs from the abuse was I didn't have value, I was used goods or damaged so what was the point in saving it for something special, my personal boundaries do not exist are not important. I also was curious about what it was all about but afraid also. I remember wanting attention than being afraid if I got it. I didn't have any counseling and my mom did nothing to help me correct any of the messages of low self esteem and worth she only added to my worthlessness.

When I later had a boyfriend we had sex regularly, I was so relieved to have someone love me and to escape my childhood with. Not good reasons to pick a boyfriend and then husband. I had lots of authority issues into my early thirties. I thankful didn't have lots of opportunity to be promiscuous. But I know that I didn't value myself.

It took me along time to realize my true value and believe I was worth a lot. There are some that go completely the other way with sex and then those who are promiscuous.

Improving her value and sense of worth will help but also maturity and time can't be replaced. Sexual abuse takes a difficult puberty and coming of age time and really messed with you. I'm so sorry she is going thru this.

I myself had a very hard puberty,but I was also alot older,15, when I started having problems.I should add I was not sexually abused.I had a great childhood,grew up on a horse farm in a small town with both parents and 4siblings.But puberty hit hard and I think my daughter is suffering the same fate,but with the added stress of the abuse and lacking maturity.Im not saying 15 is mature but 3years makes a big difference.I am terrified.

in my personal experience it is true that an abused child will grow up to be more promiscuous... this was the case for me... and in a way it was like gaining control of my sexuality. when someone takes that choice from you it makes you feel powerless, but if you choose to pursue a sexual relationship or experience with someone then it puts you back in the drivers seat, it gives you a sense of control over your own body.
that doesn't mean that it is the healthy choice, and sometimes it can lead to deep regret and shame. but in a young mind who has been abused... it seems like the most empowering choice to make, because you are deciding to be sexual and no one is forcing you!

Maybe to control you....not necessarily in a coldly manipulative way, but subconsciously, to see if you'll continue to come to her aid. As if you have a choice! As you already know, it's also a way to release endorphins -- i.e., it "hurts so good." It's possible to turn this around. It will take time, and possibly a medication shift.

I'm sorry, but when I read your post, maybe I'm mistaken, but you have just described an exchange of what is considered child pornography. It's a crime.

96,yes I agree with that.and I panicked,deleated everything and got her off all social media.Well I actually did not see the picture she took,she said she took it and sent it but thinks she was able to delete it before it went through.But the picture of him came through in a text, which is why I asked about promiscuity.I think I have things covered and then something else pops up.
