Parents Whose children have been sexually abused Community Group
This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !
My husband's dad (I refuse to give him a title of Father In Law) abused 4 of his grandkids. 3 of which are mine. The investigators in 2 counties have turned it in to the County Attorney and we are waiting to see if there will be a prosecution.
"He" has been planning a family reunion for year now and it will be next month. I am hoping he will be arrested before then but it may not happen, if he arrested at all. He has been placed on the child abuse registry in both counties, and the state.
I feel an obligation to tell those with children who may be going to the reunion what is going on but have not out of respect for my husband and for fear of being charged with defamation of something of that sort.
I am torn. Thoughts?

There was one family I knew who all got on the same page & kept all the cousins etc safe. I am so proud of them. But it doesn't usually work out that way. Try though if you can. And no matter what, make a decision as a family to keep your children away from the abuser.
Our absence and the absence of the other parents with the abused children spoke very loudly. A lot of questions and awkward moments caused by those questions.
A few weeks later his photo and charges were posted in the newspaper. Phones began ringing and all now know.
