This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !

saw the pediatric psychiatrist today.....she was great and is starting my daughter on melatonin immediately....can't wait for her full report. She took a full hour and half finding out about my daughter and me, and was not amazed by our circumstances or my daughters sleep patterns, so relieved we are 'freaks'.....interestingly the only time I nearly cried was when I told her that I had found this community.....guess it's the relief of finding somewhere finally to go where you are understood.

So so happy,you will find melatonin is a real life saver.One piece of advice,it is not a sleeping pill,I mean she will be able to fight it if she wants.So I suggest you give it to her 1hr. before bed,put on a movie or play music, or read.Have her lay down .My daughter layed on the living room couch and watched a Disney movie and I carried her to bed.Also if you are doing the movie pick something she saw already so she is not too interested in it.i know they say don't sleep to TV but if my daughter just layed there she would figit..Be patient and know there will be nights when it seems not to work.I give her a break on the weekends and in the summer when school is out.There are 2types,regular and time release,the time release did not work well for my daughter so when you pick it up ask which one it is,if it doesn't work ask your doctor about the other.So glad you found someone who helps.A good doctor/therapist should spend that amount of time initially,and it seems your gut is telling you she is a good fit.Wishing you a peaceful night's sleep.

yeah thanks hun.....what your sayings is wot the doc said as well, so she is straight on the regular, and the doc said i could up the dose 3 times in 3 weeks if it is not working.....she has a really realistic attitude to school reintegration as well.....which is now mirrored by school link worker, so things are looking up.....they finally realise my kid has BIG problems and it's a slow programme.

Then you have a great doc,sometimes when we start a new therapist/doctor I play stupid to see how much they know! Lol
