NORMAL social boundaries & GUT FEELINGS
My kids really struggle with what is normal between kids, adults, kid&adult, etc. ever since they've begun their disclosures. The monster family did a LOT of brainwashing and confusing them in the realm of socialization. Either they are too sensitive or too comfortable...I am even struggling between paranoia and over sharing. I know this is normal but I wanted to share a specific situation we've been encountering for the past couple of months. Every Thursday, my special needs son meets with a special education tutor at her house across from a park. So, for that hour, we play at that park. We've been going there for almost 3 years.
Below is the documentation I have been taking on a man who's been coming to the park we frequent on a weekly basis with his "daughter" and the behaviors that I have found concerning. Last week he involved my children...I'm not really sure what more I can do at this time so I simply document everything "just in case." I'd rather be wrong than dismiss my "gut."
12-1-16
(the 2nd time we interacted. The 1st time was a few weeks before.)
The father and little girl...so I found out she is three and a half and attends a preschool that's called Regal or Recal, they we're at the park again tonight. The little girl said that Daddy took a "video of her on the monkey bars and she had fallen and gotten hurt" and he acted all weird and laughed about it. I tried really hard to not share any personal info but only talk about the little girl. We talked about her art project at school where she had to send a family photo and cut out handprints and drew a Christmas tree. The "dad" told me that they live on C.M.B. and he found out that I lived in ***. He said something kind of weird to his daughter... "Now she knows where to go to abduct you if she wants to." I retorted right away that I had enough kids at home and not to worry about that and he responded "I figured as much." This is the father that is all acting a little inappropriate with his child...he came only one other time at the park. When he was swinging with her he insisted she had to sit on his lap (some lame excuse about safety) and was holding her in her crotch area (although when he saw me staring at him he specifically tried to place his hands on her abdomen only...having to catch himself quite a bit) and then when she was climbing the monkey bars snake-thing he kept putting his hand on her bottom instead of like her back or her stomach area. There's just something off about this relationship and they didn't even come to the park until after dark at like 5 o'clock p.m. He also said that they tend to frequent the park once a week on Thursdays also but we've only seen them here twice and we've been coming for over a 2 years. (Feels like a lie as we recognize most of who are the regulars.) Today she swung in the baby swing. He stared at my daughter & my little son quite a bit while they played (as he pushed his daughter in the baby swing) and I think was keeping his ears open to hear their names but I purposely never said them in front of him.
2-2-17
Tonight the man, who we learned is the little girl's dad, was playing with all the kids. I only found this out when I went to gather my children and looked up to see him holding his daughter on his lap on the top of the "monkey" bars snake equipment. (I had been on the phone in a meeting and had been browsing with my eyes to verify where everyone was but never saw the man...I think because i wasn't looking for him.) I was a bit taken aback because my daughter was TRYING to get near him at the top of the monkey bars where he sat with his daughter on his lap! So, I carefully extracted them out of the situation stating "It's time to go right now" and they listened and came mostly right away. The dad gave me a weird look and I'm sure he could read my cautious smile because I've done it before. But he made a point to say "goodbye *my daughter's name*" not to anyone else even though he was also playing with the boys AND unbeknownst to her, saw her booty crack and reacted in a smile rather than a flinch or turning away! That made me probe for answers in the car. "What we're you playing?" Pokémon. "Why were you trying to touch the man?" He was the charger the kids had to touch to get more battery power. "When did he join the game?" From the beginning. "Did you tell him your name?" No, he must have heard it when we were playing. "Who's idea was it for him to be the charger?" The little boy friend they supposedly brought with them. "Did you touch the man more than just with your side?" No. Etc. My oldest son shared that when the little girl had to go potty that the dad took her to the women's multiple stall restroom and stayed outside when she went in. "Mom, doesn't that disprove your theory?!" Something is just off about this guy so I requested the kids not share any personal information with them or play with him anymore but to be polite and cordial and walk away if he tried to interact. I shared we might go play at another park if he kept coming.
THOUGHTS?
I agree, I do need another observer. I see my therapist today and was planning on getting her insight. I'm honestly wondering if this child was abducted herself?! I want to ask her about her mom because that will be telling...we'll see if they come again.
My therapist says that while I can report on this guy, and should if something more specific presents, I need to be prepared to be dismissed like I was in our case as a "hyper-reactive, over-emotional" witness due to our "past trauma." I agree, especially right now since I don't even know who this guy is, that if I reported to the police they'd laugh at me and dismiss it. That's why I'm documenting! My next goal is to learn their names...when and if they show up again.
