Parents Whose children have been sexually abused Community Group
This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !
I am a survivor and a mom to a survivor so I know this road of healing very well. My daughter is around your daughter's age and is away at her first semester of college. There were days when I too thought my daughter wouldn't live to see the next day so I know how horrible it can be to think that your child might take their own life. The pain for a survivor of sexual abuse is unbearable and I wished so many times that I could just take it from her and put it all on me. I know now that as their moms we feel all the pain right along with them.
I am also happy to hear that you are going to trial and I hope they find that POS guilty -lock him up and throw away the key! Keep us updated on how it is all going. There are some amazing parents on here who have had some success with getting convictions for their children. Unfortunately my family is not one of them. My daughter was raped and molested by her older brother 14 yrs ago when she was 4 and he was 12. She disclosed 10 months ago so we were unable to punish my son because he was a juvenille at the time. (although he has been kicked out of our family forever) She has made amazing progress in a very short time (she was a self-harmer for many years , was very depressed and made a suicide attempt in Dec)
Telling her secret made a huge difference and we were able to get her away from our son. Please tell your daughter how brave she is! Telling somebody the secret saves you. It is such a horrible burden to bear and your daughter is nothing short of a hero. Survivors are like warriors who have had to fight the most devastating thing all by themselves-no wonder they suffer so! You and your husband are also heros. She is so blessed to have you as parents!
I hope that you will come back for support. If it wasn't for this forum, my family and God I don't know how I would have made it thru. Laura
Thank you so much for the warm welcome. I finally feel as if I’m no longer alone. It was so comforting to have someone truly understand your pain and anguish. Though I’m in counseling, it’s difficult when the therapist is unable to relate to your situation. I do realize therapy helps; it’s just nice to have others that actually understand. Things are so busy now getting ready for court. Anxiety is extremely high around the house. We’re just trying to make it through the next two weeks. I will keep you updated. Hopefully, I’ll find more time to write in the next day or so. Again, thank you for your kindness. ~ Jodi
