This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !

hi I am new here and feeling so extremely overwhelmed like i can't even think or focus.  i am so lost.  it all feels like a nightmare that just has to end.  i don't know where to turn.  no one knows except the authorities.  and now we are just sitting here waiting for whats next.

Sorry to hear that! Most Importantly to get counseling for yourself and trauma focused therapy for your child. If authorities are involved then you might get in contact with a children assessment center and a family advocate ( if not please ask ) there you can get help ( trauma therapy and crisis intervention) for your child and they can refer you to counselors for yourself as well, which is crucial.

Take a breath. Take two. This is a marathon not a sprint. Reach out for help. Here. Your church if that works. Someone else's if that doesn't. Call RAINN. You take this one day at a time. And sometimes one breath at a time.

My heart breaks for you, it's been over a decade since the disclosure happened in our family. It never really goes away, but it becomes much less front and center, and eventually is fairly distant, over time. As JFoust said, it's a one day or one breath at a time thing. I can offer you what worked for us:

Each state has a victims of crime compensation office that has quite a few resources, including free or reduced rate counseling. A child advocacy center also has good resources, age appropriate play therapy, etc and sometimes a parent support group. Sometimes you have to be "the squeaky wheel that gets the grease" and call offices to find out what, if anything, is happening and encourage them to investigate and share their findings if possible.

Things that we found that especially helped us: finding new interests such as genealogy, aromatherapy, music, adopting a pet, hiking and doing outdoor activities.

And the mosac website was a life saver-- Mothers of Sexually Abused Children, https://www.mosac.net/ . It's very thorough and user friendly.
