This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !
It’s been over 1 1/2 since my son disclosed he was abused by my male cousin. My son was three and told me right away.
This past Saturday my nephew who is 5 disclosed to me he was abused by the baby sitter daughter. This happened when he was about 3 or 4. My nephew and his brother were at the time living with my dad, while my sister got on her feet. My dad lives on the west coast and we live in the Midwest.
My nephew never told anyone. I believe something just triggered him because he said it in front of his brother and my son.
My dad is flying out this weekend. I asked my nephew would he mind telling my dad what he told me. He said he would tell him. My sister works crazy hours so I have my nephews a lot of the time. I informed my sister and my mother of what my nephew told me but he hasn’t yet share with anyone else.
We are all kind of nervous to bring it up we don’t want to cause him more trauma.
I am trying to help my sister get a therapist for my nephews.
It’s like the heartbreaking just continues.
As far as how to go about reporting everything. I would first and as soon as possible (in the event there's a statute if limitations with any of the crimes) contact the local police department in the jurisdiction where the abuse occurred. They will be able to investigate and pursue the perpetrator regardless of where these individuals now live, even if everyone involved is now in different states. They will also know how and be able to deal with the licensed caretaker who allowed the abuse to happen.
My daughter was sexually abused and eventually raped over the period of a few months by the adult son of an older local woman in our community who ran a home daycare for years. No one knew she had a son let alone one that had been in prison in the neighboring state for sexual assault and was on parole and violating his terms by living with his mothers house where she watched children, not reporting to his PO and not registering as a sex offender and notifying the neighborhood and our local police.
It was a big mess especially because my daughter, who was 4 at the time, was so traumatized she wouldn't speak, and not knowing this monster was down the street helping watch our children, led police on a mong investigation as they investigated every post pubescent male my daughter may have possibly have been in contact with (including my 21 year old son from a previous relationship who lives across the country) but they did this complicated trying work so compassionately and carefully, stressing to me that the only thing I needed to do and focus on was my daughter.
I know its daunting having police involved but they'll know exactly what to do so all you have to worry about is your baby boy.
