Parents Whose children have been sexually abused Community Group
This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !
While I comprehend what your suggesting, I disagree to a certain extent.
Being a child of 2 narcissistic parents, I was only ever "loved" for what I could do or look like that reflected back on my parents in a positive light. One of the brokenness-pains that I still have been struggling through, exasperated by the betrayal of said "best friend/surrogate mom," if that who I am is not enough to be loved. Why won't someone just love me for ME?!
Having this perspective helps me to see all the more how important it is for my daughter to know that NO MATTER what she does, says, what has happened to her, that she IS loved and special...especially in her childhood so that her adulthood isn't dependent on what she does.. she will always have that internal voice that reminds her SHE is good enough just because she is a unique, precious creation made in the image of God!
But I will try to be more sensitive to how what we says impacts her emotions. It's quite possible that certain words aren't wise to use. :)
