This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !
I know this may not be the merriest of times for some of you. My daughter's perp will not be around here for Christmas but there will most likely be reminders. I want to wish you all and your children peace and joy this holiday season.Our pastor preached an interesting sermon a couple weeks ago,"Why does God let bad things happen to good people" Part of the sermon was why would God let things happen to children, abuse,hunger,homelessness? Bottom line is we dont really know but I do know He has a very special plan for our children.It gives me comfort to know He will take care of my daughter and give her abundant blessings throughout her life.It gives me peace knowing He will handle the actions of the boy who caused her so much pain(my nephew but I have decided I will no longer consider him my nephew).Dont get me wrong, I am in no way over the hurt,anger and every other emotion that goes along with having a daughter who was violated but I need to give all that to God,especially this time of year,because if not I will go crazy.A few months ago I was consumed with revenge,it took up my whole day,if I knew someone I am convinced I would have hired someone to hurt him.I caused trouble on purpose with my family.I cant feel that pain again.So I wish everyone and myself peace and joy for the new year!!!
The best explanation I have ever heard about "why bad things happen to good people" is that God can only be all-loving and all-present, but not all-powerful. A God who is all-powerful and all-loving must not be present whenever we need him, and a God who is all-powerful and all-knowing must not really love us for this to happen.However, a loving, present God definitely would have prevented this IF HE COULD. It is easier to accept that maybe he cannot also throw a bolt of lightning at the perpetrators to prevent these crimes than it is to think that he doesn't want to know about them and doesn't care anyway.
As for my faith and being a survivor myself I believe nothing is beyond Gods power to restore, he has done it for me and many others that I know and He will do it for my daughter and your daughters.
