This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !
Okay, so we moved in November to get my child away from perp and family that isn't supportive. We moved to a more affluent area with one of the highest rated school districts in our state. I really struggled with deciding between the district we moved in vs another one next to us. I'm not sure if I should keep daughter in this school district or move again. What would you all do?
Current district is highly rated but I get a more cold feeling here. My daughter's teacher isn't warm and nurturing like her previous one is. She is going into second grade and I feel that children this age still need to be treated like young children. There are a lot more activities and programs here and she has learned so much since being here. At her last school, she was in all enriched learning but when we moved here, she was just average. Now she is being moved to some enriched classes again. But I really hate how the district is snobby and superficial. Even at this young age, these kids are so mature for their age and they are already so focused on material things. I'm not okay with that. I really put a lot into my children doing the right thing, being good friends, respecting others, etc. My daughter is a little naïve still and she gets taken advantage of a lot because she is so sweet. People will ask her for things like her jewelry or toys and she gives it freely. I don't discourage that, but I do encourage her to be able to expect the same back from friends.
The district next to us is still a good one, just not quite as good as this one. But the community has a whole different feel. It's more family friendly and less focused on material things. I've met a lot of really nice people who I enjoy being around and I don't get that snobby vibe at all, ever. So I guess what I'm asking is, what would you all do? Leave your child in a better district but with more mature and materialistic kids or move to a slightly lower rated district where your child could just be a child? I'm really struggling here and only have a short time to decide if I do move her.

Yes, get your daughter involved with summer programs in that town and she'll start the school year with friends.

Or a sophisticated criminal with many an asset and resource and connection who intently cares to maintain what he has and his cover? This is the man I married. My life would have been a lot easier if it was the stupid obvious poor guy by now.
Child sex abuse happens among every faith, ethnicity, nationality, socioeconomic status. You might be more discriminating than it itself.
No population of people is any safer than another. More money may mean more resources. But the cold snobby "welcome" you got - is telling. Those people aren't gonna extend themselves for your child.
Does it mean you pick up and move? I don't think anywhere else is going to be any safer or more dangerous - probably the safest thing to do is stay in your element where you are most familiar of your surroundings. There are nice affluent people even among the muckety muck. You just need to keep searching is all and don't base your impression of all teachers in that district from interactions with only one.
