Parents Whose children have been sexually abused Community Group
This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !
My best friend spend her whole life trivializing her abuse as "not that bad" comparing her story with all the other horror stories that one hears on this subject... This thinking was extremely detrimental to her self esteem and well being...
Once she realized that all abuse no mater what the facts is a huge violation of your soul is when she started her healing process...
Basically any type of abuse can distort reality and distroy the soul... No mater how mild or how horrific... It's not about all people are different, it's about all people are the same when it comes to abuse of any severity... It is a horrible violation that makes a person feel Out of control, guilty, ashamed, disgusted, confused, and tormented.
My friend that I was talking about tried to take her own life before she became aware of how badly her "not that bad" abuse had effected her...!!!!
Never let anyone trivialize what your daughter went through... Anyone with that mentality is unfortunitly a supporter of child abuse and should be avoided at all costs...!!!
Your daughter has been through hell... And if you and her father are the only people in her life that support her 100% then she is lucky to have you too... Some children don't have anyone... The rest of the family is of no significant importance to her healing process... Unless the 100% support your daughter, cut them out of your life and don't look back...!!!
Please believe me... This is what your daughter deserves...!!!
There is no physical evidence. Do we really need to wait for physical evidence? Do we need to wait for penetration by this man to this child leaving scars? Do we need to wait for traces of semen?
Harsh words but true. And the jury heard them loud and clear. Our abuser is in prison for 50 years and still has another trial to face on 3 more counts.
And, we have lost half of our family because they have decided to support the abuser.
Sending you my support and love
It's the more serious abuse that causes PTSD and anxiety. You will never know just how bad your kid was abused, Bc quite likely she will never tell all.
I think the focus should be her symptoms and not what more or less may or may not have happened.
I think also you may need to start helping her break through some of her anxieties soon which will help build her confidence.
Does that sound worse than what your daughter experienced? Well, sure -- your daughter "only" suffered a hand down her shirt. But for your daughter, the abuse she has suffered is the only kind she has known. Should my daughter just forget about what she suffered because her situation wasn't as bad as those three girls in Cleveland who were chained to the basement wall of their abuser for years? I think you can see where I'm going. All of your daughter's reactions are consistent with someone who has really and truly suffered -- the level of pain and threat she has experienced is 100 percent. Sexual abuse crosses a boundary we should all feel is clear and inviolable. Your daughter deserves the same kind of support from you as any child of abuse deserves from a loving parent. She also deserves the same relief through therapy that my daughter (finally) found. The earlier she can gain the benefits of this type of support, the better.
