My brother raped my daughter and threatened her repeatedly over the course of his 5 day visit at my house... The detective who gave my daughter the forensic interview said he used advanced grooming techniques on both my daughter and myself...!!! But his evaluation came back with the most twisted results imaginable...
Simply put... The evaluator said he was experiencing "normal hormonal changes" as he was 13 at the time of raping my daughter and 14 when he finally took the exam.

My stepson also ended up with a low score for likely to reoffend even though he scored very high on several of the predictors. They also used info that his mom gAve them regarding me and my husband that was seriously false so I don't understand how they can use that info without verifying it's true. The psychiatrist said things like that he blames others for his actions and cant see his own failings, and that he tries to outwit his therapist so his therapist would need to be careful believing him. It even said they recommend he take polygraphs to ensure he actually takes his therapy seriously and doesn't just fake his way through.

I don't believe it's possible for professionals evaluating the offenders to be immune from or cognizant of all the manipulative and deceitful answers that are given in these exams, in many cases. Sociopaths are difficult for professionals to diagnose, and can be almost impossible to treat. Many offenders, at the very least, have aberrant sociopathy in their thoughts and skills.

My sons' offender was deemed unlikely to re-offend and was placed on the lowest level, level one, on the registry, which is not online. We never saw the report. However, within the few years since his suspended sentence (he only spent one night in jail when he was initially arrested and charged), he relocated and didn't notify the new town officials of his registry status, was charged with failure to register but the judge dismissed it because she felt he wasn't a flight risk, as if that had anything to do with re-offending.

His mother's best friend set up a home organization and staging company for him so he could be employed http://morrisorganizers.com/about/ , and they work in homes, and in one case an orphanage, where there are children under the age of 16, where there are completely uninformed adults (I hope and pray adults were/are present!) regarding his sex offender status.

He also was able to get employment as a musician with a community choir where there are students under 16. In my opinion and that of the detectives who were on our case, and the assistant prosecutor who litigated it, he should be re-evaluated and moved to level 2, but his parole officer and board felt there just needed to be clearer and stronger language in his parole ruling.

Bandmom5- That is crazy! Especially the part about him being involved with the high school. I'm terrified for the future of our children! It seems like there is just a never ending amount of abusers who have access to our kids. This week, I followed our Girl Scout council leader to her house to fill out some forms. We got to talking because she lives about 2 block from me and about 2 blocks from my mom too. I checked family watchdog to see where offenders were in our area and had seen that there was one on her street. So I asked her. Guess what! It was her husband! She says that it isn't what I'm thinking and that he actually was drunk at a bar and went outside and peed in an alley and a teen girl saw him. At the time, I didn't know what his exact charges were so I thought maybe possibly it could be true but I was doubtful. I went home and pulled him up on the registry and it said he served a year for child molesting and had 3 years suspended sentence. How insane is that! She said they pass all their backgrounds checks and asked me not to tell anyone because "it's hard enough". She said she likes to be the house where all the kids come to play instead of their children going to other people's homes. She's thinking of starting a home daycare with only 5 kids because then it doesn't have to be registered! WTF!! How in the hell can a Girl Scout leader be married to a convicted child molester! Needless to say, I'm glad my daughter isn't in her specific troop but it's still very scary.

Maybe both things happened. He could have been observed by a teen while he was drunk, peeing in an alley, but he evidently did something else as well. Does she know about the charges and sentence you discovered? He could have lied/is lying to her, and maybe she isn't assertive or brave enough to find out for herself. I'm not so sure she should be involved with Girl Scouts and I wonder if whomever is in charge of supervising her within that organization knows about her husband's convictions. I don't think she should have a day care in her home. She has plenty of other options for employment or home employment. I don't believe she would be allowed to do home daycare if CPS knew about her intentions. She is right that it's hard enough, it's hard for all involved, but he did this to his victims, and to her and her family, and she chooses how she deals with it, or doesn't deal with it. No one else should be expected to collaborate with what she chooses. My heart goes out to you, and everyone here. This is a long road, we are actually 6+ years down the road from disclosure, and many forward steps have been taken. But there are are little and sometimes not so little setbacks that crop up; it's a lifelong process...
