This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !

How is everyone doing out there?

Just wondering how all the quarantining, etc. is affecting everyone.  Spending a lot of time with family can be more complicated when families are going through this kind of stress already. Virtual therapy, court cases delayed, financial stress, threats to physical health...just wondering how everyone is coping?


Our son came back home from college and thank goodness he and my daughter are in a good point to be living in the same house.  Once in awhile they do things together, usually play a video game.  He is the only one who really gets out--he went back to his grocery store job.  Husband is working from home and I'm home for now but on call in case others staffing our limited school food service get sick or quarantined.  My son's relationship with me is really strained right now, I was really worried about how he and I would do living in the same house again but so far it's not too bad, he's kept it polite for the most part.  My daughter is doing a lot with her friends and boyfriend via video and also still teaching and taking music lessons via video.  Online school for her and the youngest starts in another week.

Hubby is working,his job is essential.Well I don't think so but..... Daughter is stable and I am a homebody anyway so I'm in my glory!

Hubby is still working at the office, but many people aren't, so that is good. I recently retired and all that I was starting to be involved in is on hold for now. My therapust is unavailable for the duration of this crisis, which has thrown me.

One daughter is doing okay but is anxious with all the uncertainty and the other daughter is in a mental health hospital which is in lockdown due to a regular visitor testing positive. Interesting times.

Thankful we are in Oz and not stranded on a cruise ship or away from home.

Husband and I are totally "in" now -- just going out to round up groceries in the pickup part of the parking lot. We will not be able to hold our newborn grandchild across town until he is two months old. Video chat helps. But we are all, blessedly, well. Doing all we can to keep it that way.

I pray for people for whom staying at home may be more dangerous than going out -- women and children who are being abused. And I pray for all who have just disclosed and those whose children have just disclosed. I hope those who have newly arrived at this forum are able to find online therapy as soon as possible.

I think daily of those children trappen inside with their abusers,it makes me sad beyond what I can bear!

Yes, I think of that too, the longer this goes on the worse it will be for all of them. I just think of the faces of kids at my school and wonder which of them are suffering that way.

I had an interesting talk with my daughter. (I'm the one who adopted my God-daughter when we found out what happened to her). She said if this had happened when she was still with her ex-parents it would "have been a living hell" and she wasn't sure she would have survived it. I hadn't thought about that. Just when you think that you are beyond it, it comes back to bite you in the fanny.

We're doing o.k. not really any focus on past abuse anymore (most are on "as needed" for therapy.) Oldest is essential at the grocery store he works. I'm grateful for the break from running around & such amazing progress in homeschooling this year that wasn't thrown off due to stay-at-home orders! My kids just had their "hell week" without their 1 gram of melatonin & even with all this crazy, once they fell asleep (which was later than normal), they slept through the night without nightmares. Such progress! Hubby is mostly working from home. I am doing ok...still in online therapy 1x a month.
