Hello all, I spoke to daughters therapist today at her session. As you guys know I have been having a really hard time with family members non support/comments and such.Well I told the therapist today how I felt and how no one is doing anything and she said "WE are doing something" Wow,that is what all of you here have told me and I finally get it.I am going to try to concentrate on us not them. She also told my daughter that if anyone starts talking about things she is not ready for or asking questions she is to tell them she does not want to talk about it, no matter who it is. The therapist also told me that in my daughters case with her severe anxiety, panic attacks and how she gets thoughts stuck in her head(OCD) that even though her abuse is at a lower level than say someone who has expierenced a higher level of abuse we must treat it as a higher level of abuse.Does that make sense?Which is what someone here told me, you only know the abuse you expierenced.Another thing she said which makes me a little uneasy, she does not believe my daughter really knows what happened, I mean as far as I know she really does not know exactly what sex involves. So when she realizes or should I say learns what is invoved is when my daughter will realize what happened to her. She asked the therapist today why he did that ,to her,if it is something he learned from someone else, so she is thinking about it. The therapist also said it is not reportable, well actually she said you can report anything but under our circumstances there is nothing they will do.I am very frustrated and I want to tell everyone in the family but I know that is not right. What kind of crap is that? A boy can grope his cousin and they are basically saying it is OK. Another thing, originally my sister in law told me his counseling started Aug 29 then when I asked her how it went she told me she had it wrong it is Sept 29,our therapist was very surprised at how long the wait is,but my sister in law did not tell them the real reason he needs counseling. My daughters therapist said had they known they would most likely make room for him.So all in all a good appointment. Thanks everyone for the support and wise advice.I know I will have many more bad/crazy rants but I know I am not judged here and you have been there. Thanks everyone!!!

I am so glad you found a "match" with the therapist. That can be a very grueling journey. I am feeling a sense of relief for you. Hugs

Reflection is a very important lesson and it takes time to understand.

You will start feeling better as the counseling and your daughter start coming along in the process not that there won't be hard days but overall you know you are doing everything in your power right now.

My sons fathers family wont even speak to me because i reported his sisters son for what he did to my son. Because it occurred in a different state when they were vacationing i couldnt pursue charges. I couldnt afford to fly back and forth. That side of the family isnt in the least bit supportive. They are in denial and placing blame on me. Over these last almost two years ive learned that its not my damn problem. My concern had to shift away from them and focus on MY sons healing. Its not my place to worry why they cant face it nor is it my place to question why they support the perpetrator but not the victim. Its hard but i solely focus on my sons healing and his growth. Those unsupportive people can stay as far away as posibble they are toxic and clearly dont have my boys best interest at heart.
