I to have felt like that many times..... We as a family are at crown court next month and it is all I can do to get on with each day. My heart breaks every moment of every day for my daughter as we are all heading for the most traumatic part of our life....... But I just keep thinking If we don't do this who will????we have to..... even if it drags us to the edge of hell we have no choice...... Together we will survive..... Sha 1971 is right. As hard as this will be you can get thru it. Perps need to be stopped and punished. Surround yourself with supportive people. Are you and your family in counseling? Come here and allow us to support you thru this. We care so much and there are so many parents on here who have been thru the legal part of your journey. You really can learn a lot from them.

Your family will survive. You are strong enough and on the days when you just don't know how to go on you can come here and ask for support. Hang in there, Laura

I'm sorry that he refused the plea.
We are in the same boat. We have to tell our daughter this weekend that she may have to testify. There is perhaps some hope for both our children that they come to their senses and take the pleas.
My daughter's counselor explained to me that she has already been traumatized in the worst possible way by being abused and that a trial will certainly be hard for her but she has already been through the worst. It brought me some comfort.
Please follow Warriormama's advice and surround yourself and your family with supportive people. Your daughter is strong and so are you, you can make it through it.

I understand how hard it is!!! My ex husband so far has refused his plea deal and the prosecutor is preparing for trial on our case as well. He has until March 25 to enter his plea and confirm he is rejecting the plea deal. His lawyer tried to get the photo evidence thrown out by saying I had no legal right to look on his cell phone. The photo evidence will stand though since the cell phone contract was in my name so technically it was my phone. My heart dropped when I found out my children's therapist have all been subpoenaed to testify. I have 3 children who will have to testify. My 2 daughters he molested and my son who witnessed the abuse. I haven't told them yet since it isn't official yet.
I will pray for us all to get through this !! Be strong and make sure the perps get what they deserve!!!!

I am literally flipping out about telling our daughter. I had a counseling session today and she suggested that we put it to her like a good/bad scenario. Yes it will be hard to tell other people what happened-bad. By telling these people, he can't hurt another child-good. We plan on being calm and reminding her of her tremendous strength and courage. That she will be safe. That her prosecutor and crime victim's attorney will guide her in the court room. She attended court school last week so she has some idea of the process. We will let her choose who she wants in the court room (as far as spectators) when she testifies. They plan on her being the first witness to minimize her contact with the perp. We will buy her a necklace with a dog charm to wear on the stand to give her a tactile comfort. We requested the court therapy dog to be with her on the stand. I really don't know what else to do. Please pray for us all. This is so, so hard.

Damn iPad! Anyway, mythtrial- I am so happy to hear that they ruled in your favor. I am so sorry that the kids have to testify. Who subpoenaed the therapy records-the prosecutor or the defense? We were able to block the shitweasel from getting our daughter's records, but she didn't see a counselor until after she disclosed, so it may be a different scenario.

The prosecutor subpoenaed the records....they called me ahead of time and asked me to sign release of information forms. The investigator for the prosecutor told me they want to make sure he pays for his crimes since so far even though he somewhat confessed, he refuses to take any responsibility and says since he didn't have intercourse with her , he didn't do anything that bad. He refuses to admit to touching our youngest girl because he isn't a pedophile according to him since he waited until our oldest hit puberty to do anything and oh he claims she was always asleep so how could he have hurt her? But my oldest girl did disclose him touching her since she was 6 yrs old. As hard as it was for her to admit that little bit ..I believe her not him!!!! Also there are pictures of my youngest as well as the oldest...so he is just deluded miserable liar!!! He was careful to not have his face in any of the pictures but I identified him by body parts..so I have to testify too as to him being the one in the pictures with my girls. I don't think he knows my son witnessed him or thinks since he is autistic he wont be believed.
That is good that the court is going to work with you all to minimize as much as they can the impact of testifying on your daughter !

We told our daughter today that she may have to testify. It actually went better than we expected. She said that she didn't want to but we asked her to express her feelings and we were able to assure her. She asked if she could take her favorite stuffed animal and we said sure. I asked her if a necklace would help her and she said yes, so we went shopping. Got a dress, shoes, necklace, earrings, and even a matching bracelet. I know that she will probably have some reaction to this news as the days go on and we are prepared to support her. She is so brave, my beautiful girl!
