Parents Whose children have been sexually abused Community Group
This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !
Not sure how I forgot this (well, I do know, I lost a beloved pet this morning), but there was some extra information on our holiday I wanted to share with you.
On our second day the girls and I went to a place called Murrays Beach, which is quite good for snorkelling. I met some amazing people there. The first person was a lady who was in her 40s, maybe 50s, who was a wealth of knowledge of everything to do with rock pools and marine life. She really engaged with the children, finding things for them to hold and teaching them about what they were finding. The second person I met that day was a man from Sydney, who, together with his partner and I think some other people help children from backgrounds of abuse. They had a group of about 20 children with them. They take the children on respite camps and offer camps at least once a month, more often during holidays. He became involved with these children when he was asked to teach some boys self defence and help build self-esteem and confidence in them. He became involved full time with this work. They deliberately keep the camps to a small group and if the children become troublesome they work through the problem instead of sending them home which other organisations tend to do. I found both of these people inspirational for different reasons.
One of the prettiest things I found in a rock pool was a fluorescent sea snail. It had bright blue on the outer edges of its foot. Even dh was fascinated, and that takes some doing! Now I want to go back to the beach. Much easier to fit exercise in when the surroundings are fascinating.

What a serendipitous outing, to come across both the woman who could transport your children with her knowledge of nature, and the man who runs the camp. They seem like two non-coincidences to me.
So sorry about your pet! I have been there, too. It's so difficult!

I would have liked to have spent more time with both of these people. I am fascinated by nature and often find things that others walk straight past. Birds are one of my passions and we have a lot of beautiful ones that frequent our garden.
