Parents Whose children have been sexually abused Community Group
This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !
Find YOUR people and it doesn't have to be many that DO support you, you can count on to pray for you and be prayer warriors for you. These will be your beacons of light in the dark times because they always point you toward God. It took me a while to get this in place but a counselor for yourself if you have someone with trauma experience very helpful. This person you can hash out every ugly thought and all the stuff that is so heavy to carry. You have us here as your support group of ladies and men who understand who have suffered the same and many like me suffering right on beside you. Once you are further down the road it will be easier to open up to others and not be as sensitive to their response but for now guard your heart.
I found this to be the greatest weeding out process ever YOU WILL find out who your real friends and family are who will stick. My last go around I will be honest I found out I had not one in my circle and there was a very lonely season I think of as my desert season where I grew so closely and deeply to God who was quite literally my only source of comfort outside of my counselor then and later a support group. But out of that support group I was in I now have those prayer warriors for me and they are my closest most treasured friends. So perhaps you will find those treasures out of your darkness.
Set limits around anyone who doesn't support you the way you need to be and be wary of those looking for a good story and want to hop on a drama wagon and hear all the details and will feed into your own fears and anger. You will know because you feel like you need to go home and shower after spending time with them. I'm not saying that to judge these people I'm sure they have their own reasons for being who they are but you aren't in place to help them as much as you need to receive help. They can receive your grace at a later time am I right? :) They can't possibly understand what they haven't experienced for themselves.
