This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !
I am scared to dealth! My daughter will be discharged from the day program next Thursday and will be returning to school that following Monday,We have a discharge meeting that day with the school on conference call to work out the details.Right now we are in the middle of a fight with her school.She was getting bullying notes on her desk,10 of them,gave the first 2 to the teacher. Nothing was done and now the teacher is saying she was never informed.The superintendent was notified and was also notified and questioned as to why CPS was called for my daughter's absences,no illegal, all medical.So things are very stressful right now.Anyway the social worker at the program will suggest ways for my daughter to cope at school if she feels the urge to self harm, draw,squeeze a stress ball and I will try to think of a way for her to get up and leave class if need be. I also got the ball rolling to have her tested for IEP so we can have some things in place for the start of middle school next year.I also called a parent advocacy group for help in navigating the system.I found some disturbing posts on instagram. It is heartwrentching knowing your 12 year old child hates herself so much that she does not want to live.I found a picture she drew of herself at 6 years old,it said "Happy me" and then another drawing of her at 8 years old that says "sad me" and a drawing of her now that says"Broken me" with cut marks all over her.I am beyond heartbroken and am a mess.On a good note her and I are going on a shopping spree today so I hope it lifts her spirits.
I bet my daughter would have drawn the same sequence of drawings, too, bonnieboo11. It's heartbreaking that happy ended for both our daughters at age 6.
Please be sure that shopping is something your daughter is ready for at this point. It's a very public activity. She may prefer a quieter activity at the moment. A hike or walk together might allow you to talk more freely.
I don't know if my offering will help much but I'll share in hopes that it may.
My son was being bullied. I finally got tired of it and took it to the school board. They did step in and an action plan has been taken. My heart breaks for your girl...
My oldest daughter had a period where she would draw on herself. I really hate it. I kept scolding her and she kept doing it. Finally, she told me that her friend is a cutter. When she had the urge to cut, she would tell my daughter and they would "tattoo" butterflies on their flesh instead.
