This group is for parents whose children have been sexually abused. We welcome both Mothers and Fathers. Here, we can offer support to one another. We can vent, cry and lift each other up. No condemning or criticizing allowed. We are here for support. We LOVE (((HUGS))) !
Hello all, this subject really has nothing to do with my daughters abuse,well I guess it kinda does.My daughter has missed 33 days of school so far this year,double pneumonia and 2 rounds of strep.She misses alot of days every year and I believe her anxiety has alot to do with it,She held the abuse inside for 2+ years and that can take a toll on anyones body.So anyway I got a call from child services and they need to meet with us after the school notified them of her absences.I have to add I have doctor notes for all 33 days,none are illegal absences.They need to speak to her and I and need me to sign releases so they can speak to her doctors.I am pissed, I have a 504 plan for her and have Dr. notes for all absences,I dont really want to give them access to her records,not because I am hiding anything, I just think it is a violation of her right to privacy.I know some here have dealt with them and I am wondering how much I have to "cooperate".I know what they are thinking that I am making her sick or I am exaggerating her illnesses, but you cant fake test results.I dont really know what I am asking,maybe I am just venting.I would love to hire a lawyer and sue for harrassment but we cant afford that,We pay for her counseling now since her therapist no longer takes her insurance.I called legal aid and they dont do education law.I have to add the school has taken us to court 2x and it was dismissed both times.Uggggg
My daughter has > 10 tardies a quarter - all associated w her father over the past 4 years. I asked the school to please report. They refused.
My child has shown up to school no coat mid winter. School nurse gave her boys coat to wear.
My son showed up to school w father sandals on in worst snow storm of the year. The school yelled at my son n didn't report.
My friends daughters school reported bc her daughter had more bruises than they thought she should have. I was sort of offended for my friend and asked her "how can you send your kid back there?!?!" She said, they're doing their job correctly".
And I thought - she's exactly right!!!
My kids school is ignoring their abuse by not reporting. My friends kids school reported and there's no abuse...
I prefer erring on the side of the kids.
CPS isn't your friend. Just answer their questions short and sweet and to the point and nothing else. Don't act offended.
The school however after losing two law suits - and abuse having already being investigated and ruled out I assume, does seem Inflamnatory...
