We are 2years in and the case is closed,nothing will be done,no arrest,no therapy nothing.If I remember correctly your abuser is 16?.There is not much that can be done.Most of these cases never see a courtroom and since he is a minor it's even harder,but you do have the age Gap on your side.If they were under 4 years age difference they consider that child curiosity.I tell you this not to cause more stress but for you to be prepared.Have you called a child advocacy center?They have lawyers on staff that will guide you,free of charge.They have people who will work for you and they gave all kinds of resources.My daughter's abuser was her cousin and my mother in law(both kids grandmother)hired HIM a lawyer.He did not even have to talk to the police,I was shocked.So basically the police knocked on their door and my sister in law refused to let them talk to him case closed.Concentrate in getting good therapy for your son and yourself.

I just reread my post and I hope you don't think I'm too harsh,of course fight for justice!I just don't want you to sit around waiting for something that may never come.I woke up every day sitting by the phone waiting for that call.anxious everyday,checking to see if I missed a call,not showering so I didn't miss the call.if you have a good prosecutor he will welcome your check in call.

I wasn't really given any information for support or what to do next so I'm flying blind here. Any information is helpful and I do appreciate it.

Child advocacy agency is the way to go,they even have a victim compensation fund to help with medical expenses.They have therapists for free.Btw the best therapist we ever had was from a free agency.Report and hope for the best.Try to find a way to get on with your life and assume there will be no justice,to me it's easier that the endless hours of hope.And right now you are probably in shock,in a couple months you will look back and realize that.Take things slowly and don't make any rash decisions,come here as often as needed and ask,ask,ask.I was here every hour at first!

CPS case was 3 months long...reopened a few months later due to a therapists report for a short couple weeks.

Police case(s) was just shy shy of 21 months, almost 2 years, before it was truly closed...and we left in alone realizing that the trauma of a court case would regress the progress in healing that our children had shown.
