Cameras in the Courtroom

The local news channel has filed a request to follow the story more closely and have cameras in the courtroom. They claim they will not included details about the kids. They say this after they ran an article on "him" including pictures of the papers filed. On those papers you could clearly see our children's initials and some details of what he did to them. Details we are not, as parents to the children that are related, even supposed to discuss with each other.
I am disgusted. Sick. Angry. And in spite of all of these hateful and sad emotions I am feeling that we should let them do it to expose the sob to everyone so they know EXACTLY WHO HE IS! They live in another town about 5 hours away. Trial is in 2 counties. The other county is an hour away. They haven't picked up the story yet but I think they will. And I think the odds of it getting back here to our town are pretty high.
Has anyone here had cameras in the courtroom?

I am not sure how I would feel about cameras...I just don't know...Honestly I think I would feel like you do about them. I would like to share some thoughts. My daughters were adults when they decided to tell what happened. I went through so many emotions....one thing that was very important was for me to understand it was THEIR choice, THEY were making this decision now....and perhaps that was part of why they never said anything when it was happening....so many reasons why they held onto this secret. In society we just cannot handle the truth as it so raw an real....kids seem to have a better handle on this...in my situation at least. There is a stigma associated with bringing this forward....there are those that doubt the truth, side with the perp, think its not that bad, think kids exaggerate, parents are overreacting, the perp is actually a "good guy" and just has a "problem" and the list goes on and on. Really? I wanted everyone to know, I wanted to share my daughters story so others would realize this can happen in the best of families. All of these are honorable reasons...but they are my reasons...not my girls....They want nothing more than to heal and move forward...not to be a victim or reminded of their past. This may not be everyones decision but it is theirs. I would love nothing more than showing the world this monster...but in doing so I would jeopardize their privacy. And that is the hard part of this crime....I have yet to figure out which is best, I just have to respect what my daughters have asked of me. And that is why this forum is so helpful. We can share and we can vent and we can allow frustration to come out, but we must preserve and understand our children's silence. Those that do speak out must do so when there time is right.....I hope it all goes well with you and that your wishes are respected. We have a deposition coming up after several years in a civil trial and it is very difficult to face what we know will happen next. As much as we want the perp to suffer, our family wants to put it behind us, but once the process starts it cannot be stopped. Hopefully it will bring us some peace.

What a dilemma. If only we could expose these mongrels without giving up our own identities. About to hit the hay, but I wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you and wishing you fortitude to manage whatever is to come.
